newbie with questions

Hi all, I am brand new to cloth. Just purchased my organic stash (a mix of bum genius AIO Organic, Bummies organic prefolds, diaperaps hemp, and a couple of others thrown in during my sampling time) for my 6 week old. A couple of questions.

I ordered some hemp doublers/inserts to use for night time. Got them on ebay and they didn't come with any instructions. Do I prewash these like hemp diapers?

I also notice a strong odor after baby wets hemp or the one Bamboozle we have. Is this normal with natural fibers? I followed all the prewash instructions. Odor is always gone after washing.

I lurked on these boards for a while before deciding to go cloth and now that I have, I see what the big deal was! I have spent SO much free time researching the options and I was way too excited when our stash arrived a few days ago! So happy to have made the switch, so much easier than I thought it would be. Thanks for the help/advice.

The hemp inserts - yes- you'll need to do all the prewashes like you would a diaper. I tend to do only 3 or 4 - just know the absorbancy will continue to improve as you go.

I'm not sure about the odor of the others, I've not experienced that with new items before. We get stinkies occasionally but my ds is older and our dipes are well loved.
