How dilated/effaced are you? - Page 3

39 weeks, 1cm, soft, but not effaced.

Not too worried since I was less when I went in labor w/ my last and went from 0 to delivery in less than 3 hours.

Saw the midwife today....

50% effaced, baby moved down further (-1) and dilated but she didn't give me a number (very stretchy too). :

All these stupid cramps and contractions are actually doing something

Still 4cm and about 80% effaced depending on how low the baby is.

I know, right? I've had pretty much nothing all week aside from when DS nurses, but those never result in anything. I think I'm mentally blocking things from happening right now.

I'll find out tomorrow morning - first internal exam, at 37w6d.

If I'm totally closed up, then I think I'll have to step up my encouragement measures from their current level of basically-nothing. Chiro, EPO, etc. So I hope that I've made some progress and can continue floating down the River Denial until my mom gets here next Friday

I've been doing chiro, epo, blue co-hosh homeopathic (only 1 day a week as prescribed), arnica homeopathic...for 3+ weeks now.

Still 1cm.

I feel like stomping and throwing a temper tantrum "WHY BOTHER?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

At my midwife appt yesterday I was 2 cm and 50% effaced with baby at a -1 station. I know that these numbers really don't mean anything as far as when labor will happen but it was nice to see that all my uh "sensation laden" contractions have been doing something!

80% effaced, 1-2 dilated, and "wow, her head's way down there! That's good progress for a third baby!"

:

So I told him that my Mom was coming on the 15th, and could I have my water broken on Monday the 18th please? He said OK. Dh is freaking (NOT a fan of OBs or hospitals births), so I told him if he wants to avoid this intervention he needs to get to work starting my labor before the 18th. I wonder what he'll come up with...

Now I'm crampy as heck. Compared to my midwife, this dud has no finesse on the internal exams! It felt like he was shoving a ball peen hammer up there...

No clue. It means nothing and increases your risk of PROM and infection. With my last birth I had a couple checks, at 42 hrs I was a maybe 2, she was born 2 hrs later. And I have had a friend be 3-4 for over 3 weeks. It's useless information at this point, and just invites problems.

Ugh, I know the feeling. Although, in contrast, it was my male OB who had these quick, easy cervical checks that honestly you hardly even felt it and then it was over. But the day that I went in worried about decreased fetal movement, and he wasn't there and I saw another doctor in the practice-- female-- she practically MAULED me. I would have thought that being a woman she would have been a bit better at it. I think it was a case of experience-- she was younger, and while digging around in there-- I swear-- said something about wanting to make sure that it was the head she was feeling (my OB had confirmed two days earlier that it was indeed the head, without hurting me one bit).

I'm partly convinced that it was that woman who made me go into labor four weeks early. Immediately after her exam, I had a lot of crampiness and spotting, which I never had with my regular OB. Two days later, my water broke. I've convinced myself that she accidently swept my membranes or something.

Well, as of Wednesday 5/6 I was 1 cm and soft, baby was low, but she didn't comment on effacement as she said that was variable. But she did touch baby's head and that was weird. I did have a membrane sweep (partial - not all the way around) and then Thursday and Friday I lost my mucous plug. Lots of sensation up there today, so I'm hoping that I'm at least dilating more. If no labor until then, I'll be having her check again this coming Wednesday and probably do another sweep. Boo.

I'm almost 38 wks and 80% effaced and 1 cm with baby very low. Suddenly very sleepy and lazy when I had a lot of energy this week. Hoping it is soon.
