Ugh, I know the feeling. Although, in contrast, it was my male OB who had these quick, easy cervical checks that honestly you hardly even felt it and then it was over. But the day that I went in worried about decreased fetal movement, and he wasn't there and I saw another doctor in the practice-- female-- she practically MAULED me. I would have thought that being a woman she would have been a bit better at it. I think it was a case of experience-- she was younger, and while digging around in there-- I swear-- said something about wanting to make sure that it was the head she was feeling (my OB had confirmed two days earlier that it was indeed the head, without hurting me one bit).
I'm partly convinced that it was that woman who made me go into labor four weeks early. Immediately after her exam, I had a lot of crampiness and spotting, which I never had with my regular OB. Two days later, my water broke. I've convinced myself that she accidently swept my membranes or something.
