Newborn in Diapers

this might be a silly question, sorry if it is.

i am definitely using only cloth diapers. i really would rather disposables never got near my baby. I am giving birth in a birth center, and i am due in september, so it's not close enough for me to ask all the little details of the center....but....

what if i don't want them to put a diaper on my baby, is it silly to bring cloth new born diapers or prefolds or a variety (cause who knows how big baby will be) so that the first time they even have a diaper it's cloth? has anyone done this?

bring a velcro AIO diaper. Throw out the disposable that's on the bassinet and replace it with your velcro AIO. Make sure it's a diaper that it as easy to use as a sposie....and put it in your birth plan.

hooray, thanks, i just didn't know if i was being crazy about this or not.
i was planning on a kissluvs for the newborn since that seems to be what most of you like most.
i think that is easy enough.,

since it's a birth center i think they will be ok with it. i plan on having my mom or DP give the first sponge bath and everything. so this shouldn't be too insane.

We are due in September as well and choosing between having the baby at the center or at home.

Birth centers are usually cd friendly. Mine even has Cloth 101 classes. So they should be totally cool with it.

Sure, you can bring cloth. Dd would never have worn a disposable except we forgot to bring our cloth to the hospital and dh had to go home and get it after she'd been sposied.

We used cloth right from moment one with last dd No one batted an eye lol! In fact, the night nurse was happy as it made her job easier - you know how they make sure baby is having wet diapers etc. Pretty easy to tell in cloth

My first ds was in disposables for the first 3 weeks because he was early and I hadn't gotten my diapers yet! My dd was born at home so I dressed her myself and she went straight into cloth diapers. My last ds was born in the hospital (planned hb but high b/p) with midwives and they didn't do anything with him other than weighing and newborn exam right at my bedside. I wiped him and diapered (with cloth I brought) and dressed him myself before we left 6 hours after birth. The midwives just asked me what I wanted them to do- "do you want us to bathe him for you" (no), "there are diapers in the cupboard if you need them" etc.
