I would totally do this, had my last pregnancy gone to plan. As it is, I am planning a hospital birth with an awesome and very sympathetic OB who will not try to coerce me into anything, accompanied by my friend and midwife who will be my doula

I had a cesarean you see, and a placental abruption and have been left with a very tiny umbilical hernia. So there are some things I need to get checked throughout

Apart from that though, I'd totally do it! I am hoping the umbilical hernia (it's about the size of a pea) doesn't interfere with my VBAC chances! There is no way I am having another section unless it is an absolute emergency.

At this point I'm not sure about it, thinking about the options. It would depend a little more on how the pregnancy goes. This is my first and I am totally unsure what to expect.

hospital. i don't have much of a choice really. i've never had a normal pregnancy. i'm really ok with it. the hospital where i will give birth is awesome and every single person i encountered there was helpful and kind. it's also the hospital where i work. i'm lucky to work in such a fabulous place.

I think it is always good to consider every option and pick what is right for you!

We will probably UC with our third (this is our second). My dh and I discussed what we are both comfortable with and that is the compromise we came up with. So this time around I will probably look for a midwife who will give me as much space as possible. We are planning a : this time around.

The plan here is to labor in the van with my friend and midwife until it's time to push, in the hospital car park She can check the heartbeat, the contrax, the dilation...everything Ha! We have it all planned out!

I wonder how much it would be to rent some kind of campervan? You could have more room that way. I love that idea.

No UC/UP. I'm planning another homebirth.

Yes yes, planning UP and UC, loved it last time. No weight comments, no sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes just for a 10 minute appointment where they tell me everything I already know since I track on my own, no being pressured about tests/procedures I'm signing waivers out of, no birthplan disagreements, no finding a babysitter for 4 children, etc..... Heck Yeah! Had a midwife on back-up for the birth last time to relax DH and do paperwork, but have a feeling that will be harder since we moved to a state where lay midwives and CPM's are illegal - I think. Maybe it will be enough for DH that the hospital is right across the street. The paperwork might be tricky, I don't want to be flagged by CPS. Oh well, 8 months to work out the details.

BlessedNotStressed, what are your plans?

My plan is to UC. However, I won't UP because I had Pre-E/HELLPS last baby and I already have high BP now. Too much could go wrong if I don't monitor it carefully.

I had an unmedicated birth in the hospital with my daughter 2.5 years ago. I'd really love a homebirth this time. I need to meet the 1 midwife in the area and see how we jive together. We have our house on the market, and if it sells, we'll have enough $ in the bank for a HB.

This is my first pregnancy and I'm really intrigued about UP.

I am having another UP/UC... did so with ds#3 and after feeling so much less stressed to not have a midwife and appointments etc... I could never go back...

No, I might think about it, but this will, I hope, be my first successful VBAC so I would feel safer with help. And my dh would be a wreck, and honestly, he's not all that helpful in labour. I am hoping to get accepted as a midwifery patient, and I'm not sure if it will be a home birth - in someone eleses home - or in the hospital - we'll have to see.

On the other hand, I have no local doctor yet, so if I don't qualify for a midwife, then my dr is an hour away. So far, I haven't seen anyone.

We are planning a home birth. DH doesnt trust doctors, so I think the pregnancy will be very much UP. We are planning to deny the testing and everything anyways. I'm not really sure what other reason to have visits with my doctor would be, as this is my first pregnancy.

I may choose to have prenatal care with the midwives and decide later whether or not to just 'oops' it and have it at home alone - or perhaps I'll want to have the midwife there with me, although I want a waterbirth - and don't want another woman in the tub with me. haha, so we'll see how it goes.

Yes, and if we don't move from where we are, the hospital is a 2 min drive if anything were to start seeming wrong.
