I need a vacuum.

I need a vacuum that is good for our basement carpet, some area rugs, and also (periodically) wood floors. I have one that is so bad I don't use it, which really isn't helping!

Help! We have allergies in this house so dustmites are not welcome.

Are there any really good ones that are less than the dyson?

our vacuum was dying a long death so today I went out and bought the bissell momentum I was super impressed with what it picked up. Our house is on the market so we had been vacuuming approximately every other day I plugged it in a little while ago and was shocked at the dirt that came up we don't wear shoes in the house either, it was pretty gross. Anyway it had very good reviews on all the sites I went to. I found it at Kohls for $99 plus I had a 15% off coupon so not bad at all.

It worked well on all our flooring, tile, hardwood area rugs wall to wall etc we have a little of everything so it really went through the test. Anyway it has only been through one use but I am happy with it.

I just bought a Hoover LINX cordless and love it! as a former Dyson owner I am super impressed and it was less than 1/2 of a Dyson at around $180 (Mind you I no longer have carpets just wood floors but I use it multiple times a day with my super messy kids. We homeschool and my DP and I work at home so we needed something more heavyduty but I wanted a lightweight stick vacuum.) you can check out the reviews at Amazon.. It is sooo much better than sweeping w/ a broom and I no longer dread vacuuming because I love it!

A Miele with HEPA filter.

I used to sneeze my head off every time I vacuumed. Not at all since the Meile. We have similar floors - wood with area rugs etc. Love it Love it Love it!

I have an Oreck and love it. We have all wood and tile floors, with area rugs. Love, love, love it. I hate bagless vaccuums and will never use another one. I have asthma and the dust just flies all over when you empty those things. So I love the Oreck.

this. hands down the best vacuum we've ever owned and we are big-time allergy sufferers as well.

oh so those are kind of in the dyson price range. I always hear about dysons here. Are these better? I know I need to read about them. Vacuums are just the last thing I want to surf the net for! argh.
I think I would like that attachmetn.

Can I ask why you are no longer using a dyson?? I totally value lightweight! Our last vacuum was 10000 pounds. I am currently using a little stick dirt devil for floors, which I like, but I don't think it will suffice for the basement we just recarpeted. I had a bissell something and it stucked. Not literally.
