mel, ngaio watched a lot more TV the first year of rue's life. she is mostly weened now but it was hard because i felt badly, but left to her own devices she is a wrecking ball of destruction..i was glad to have something that could keep her attention for a while, so i could do other things.
we never had TV, just videos and dvd's..so i felt a bit more okay with the fact that she was staring at a screen.. but she never lost interest, so in my mind that meant i wasn't over doing it. not sure if that really is the case or not.
now my kids will watch maybe a show or movie a day, but often not at all.
Norasure sounds so sweet! i cant belive 6 weeks has passed already. time has wings, that's for sure.
so our big news....
we found a house in Kaslo, right? for November..except now its for July 1st!
we are here now..and i don't want to go back to clearwater, not even for a month to pack ect.. im in love. totally. this town is like no none ive been to. its just stunning on so many levels.
and the coolest thing..i manifested it all. down to the current lady leaving early & everything. i feel like i have a magical power right now.
the house is so perfect. its 3 bedrooms, but the 3rd is separated by the laundry room(which is wall to wall cupboards for pantry and storage and cold storage) and the house is L shaped so it really is in its own wing, with its own bathroom too. that room is a bit smaller, but it has a huge window over looking the garden and a sweet slope in the ceiling. this room will be my craft room and guest room. HINT HINT!
the other 2 bedrooms are great. the master bedroom is huge, with french doors leading to a really beautiful garden & sitting area. there are lots of windows, and 2 HUGE closets with built in dressers and such. its an older house & had a lot of character. the flooring in that room is kind of hideous linoleum, and the room is so big not rug that i can afford will cover it, so im going to learn how to make rugs!
of yeah, and apart from the bathroom, this is the only room im allowed to paint, so it will be a spring green colour with white accents. so me.
the kids room is also large, with a big closet behind the door with built in dressers. the whole left hand wall is built in shelving
: then there are two good sized windows that also look out into the garden. the downside of the room is that the walls are finished plywood. no paint. BUT..ive devised a plan to make it gorgeous with painted peg board, trim and cloth.. i will transform this room. im actually excited about it. its a challenge ive never faced before.
the kitchen is small and..retro. the fridge is brown & so is the stove, but i love them. the cabinets and..well..everything is wood. but nice. i think that i will do the painted peg board thing to cover some walls to just give it some colour. the dining area is very small, so it will be a big change from our big kitchen/dining area that we have now..but it will work.
the living room is big and open and adorned with more wood.
its all very cottage chic. there is a huge window looking out to the front of the house, but in front of the road is a huge lilac and many other pretty plants and garden. there is a pellet stove, which supposedly does not get hot to the touch, so that's great because rue would burn herself for sure. there is also a door with a window that leads out to the back garden from the living room. this room probably needs the most TLC. its quite dark with all of the wood, and there is a lot of wall space needing covering.. or something. i think with lots of lamps and white fabrfic i can make it work..but it will be a process! the room also comes equipt with a couch & chair which are a lovely brown & yellow tweed. i will be covering them
and the way the house is shaped there is a lot of undercover outside space, so i want to put some nice comfy outdoor furnature out there. i saw plans for a couch made of wood pallets, i think ill do something like that. with removable cushions..
it is such a great kid house.
and the best part. it is less than a block to the school..3 down to "downtown' which is just really a sweet little village, with 3 of the nicest health food stores ive ever seen. 3 of the best coffee shops with amazing food (think nachos with pesto. OMG).. maybe 4 blocks to the lake, which surrounds all of town, so in a way its like an island in the lake. the playground down at the park is the nicest ive ever seen, with a huge round gazebo, mountains all around, the lake on all sides and green for as far as the eye can see.. there is even a huge skate park. elwynn is so stoked. and the preschool, periwinkle, is a waldorf school, which is pretty well in the park, but seperated by a picket fence.
ngaio is already enrolled far september!
wow. can you tell that im happy?
oh and the house has high-speed internet to boot.
im leaving to go home on thursday and then i start to pack & declutter and get ready. i still have to work till we leave and elwynn has school till the 3rd week on june, so i know that the time will go quickly.
thanls for reading my rambles!!
