Suggestions about resume?

I am thinking about applying for a writing job that requires a resume. But I have a very atypical work history, and wanted to get some feedback from this great group. I have been homeschooling for the past 12 years (I now have 5 "students", age pre-K thru 11th grade), and due to chronic health issues and frequent moves during my dh's military career, I have no other "work history" to speak of, except for a couple years of doing telemarketing in my pre-Mommy days. For these same reasons, I cannot list much in the way of volunteer work, either. If anyone has suggestions on how to "make a purse out of a sow's ear", I'd really appreciate your suggestions!

Is the job a work-at-home situation? I think there are numerous skills of mothering and homeschooling that translate to working at home:

self-motivation, time management, project management, perfecting finer details, problem solving, multi-tasking, task-completion, no time off!!

I don't know how this would work if the submission is resume-only but if you have the opportunity for a face-to-face interview you'll be able to prove your mettle. Since it's a writing job, maybe the quality of your resume will see you through to the next stage. The resume is a sample of your best work! Be creative!
