Wood stoves and cathedral celings

I read an article recently where someone recomended that a person with cathedra celings get a wood stove. Is there a particular reason these two go together well? Anyone using this combination?

We heat with a woodstove in the basement, and the heat comes all the way up to the 2nd floor. We don't have catherdral ceilings, but I can only imagine how expensive it would be to heat all of that space by burning fossil fuels or with electricity. Wood heat is affordable, and toasty!

I had to google image it, but yes we have a cathedral ceiling in our lounge. We have a wood stove just because we wanted one opposed to using electricity or gas to heat. I do think a lot of the heat gets trapped up there, but any would no matter what. I have heard that having a ceiling fan on reverse will deal with it though if you wanted to. No idea why wood would be the preferred option to any other though. We love the wood stove.
