locking

Why is that the racism questions have been automatically locked?? Artgodess posted about it and it was locked.

Can we not have a dialogue about maybe redoing the racism forum? No on has posted in that forum for a year but we have had many threads recently that caused many questions that should go in the racism forum. So do you not want dialogue about this topic?

We have new forums on hold at the moment and opening that up will require some more staffing.

We have a lot of balls in the air right now we will have to sit down and review that carefully. It isn't something we can accomplish quickly. We have other running projects that we are trying to complete.

I am sorry things don't always happen as quickly as it seems like they could.

It had nothing to do with that it was a racism question, new forum questions have generally been closed.

I am really hesitant about the idea of a racism forum, really hesitant. It isn't that I do not feel such issues are not important or applicable, I do. I am often concerned with the tone such threads take.

There is a certain lack of patience that people have with one another about this issue. I am concerned about having a central place that might consist of hostile threads.

I am also concerned with how very simple it is for some people to be baited and that a lot of people choose to take on a role of "devil's advocate" which is not conducive to a serious discussion.

Amy and I will be trying to look for some alternatives to some of the forums that are currently closed and we can consider this when we discuss that.

In the meantime we host such threads in TAO

Instead of a whole new forum can we discuss the idea of reworking the current Racism Seminar, opening it up for discussion?

(sorry to tag on to this request for a forum, but my earlier thread requesting a dialog was locked before a discussion could take place)

Logistically it would be the same as opening a new forum. You meant opening it as a forum right? With people having the ability to start their own threads and post?

Ahh, I see what you mean. So opening up with workshop to dialog, so that people can reply to what someone else says would be the same on your end as creating a new forum. gotcha

Well yeah it would involve the same workload.

Were you not thinking of a normal forum, did you have something else in mind?

Thanks for your honesty and I understand what you mean by the problems that may arise. I see now that a new forum will cause a lot of stress for the mods.

So are there no moderators for the racism forum now?

I think the workshops are great because people can come and share their experiences without anyone responding to them. It just seems like the novelty wore off because no one posts there anymore. I would think that keeping the workshops as they are but still adding a dialogue part to it would be great. I also think women like Yinsum and Missy have put a lot of interesting resources up for combating racism that we could add those to the forum.
