What exactly is Sucralose?

Is it benign like stevia, or bad like aspartame? I tried wikipedia, and it didn't help much (my comprehension skills at the time were low )

Sucralose is sucrose with one of the hydroxyl groups replaced with a chlorine atom. NOT good stuff at ALL. Brand name Splenda.

It's a totally artificial sweetener, pure chemical.

Bad as in aspartame. I avoid the stuff like the plague.

Crap. Thanks!

Dh bought flavoured water last week for the kids, luckily they don't know it's here. What's wrong with plain water?

Nothing is wrong with plain water, unless you believe all the marketing! And it's not "flavored water" it's ARTIFICALLY SWEETENED water. TRUTH in marketing!!!!

its splenda and its nasty and makes me nauseus. blech

we got some splenda sweetened juice by accident when i worked at a daycare (well not an accident, the delivery guy was being stupid) and nobody noticed, because we ALWAYS had real juice of course. i was filling cups for snack in the preschool room and poured myself a cup too.... took a drink and almost puked (but i have a strong reactions to artifical sweetners)....

and then like half the class of 20 had diarreah and another quarter was complaining of tummy aches the rest of the day

Splenda is BAD NEWS. I stay far far away. I usually get terrible migraines from it, but one time I ate some popcorn and sucralose was the last ingredient and my stomach hurt so bad I couldn't stand up straight for 4 days!

i read in BREAKTHROUGH (suzanne somers) that splenda was orignially developed as an insectacide-- they said, take a packet outside and pour it on your ant hills, and watch what happens... ew. it changed my point of view entirely!!
