Plugged duct?? or breast mass?

I nursed my son until he was 19 months. We did CLW and when we weaned, I simply asked him if he was finished and he said yes. The next day he did not ask and I did not offer. Our relationship has been as close as it was while we were nursing.

Today it is now nine months later and I think I have a plugged duct with no way of relieving it. I have extreme tenderness below or under the nipple and it does not feel like I have a lump, but it feels EXACTLY like a plugged duct.

So, what do you suggest? I haven't had milk production probably in 6-7 months. What can relieve the pain?

I am getting ready for an IVF and am on Aygestin because BCP's mess me up. Do you think it could be that? Should I go to my OB/Gyn and have a breast exam or mammogram before the IVF?

I am very concerned about this.

OK first of, do you have any milk production at all? Normally milk production stops between 40-45 days after the child has weaned, so if you have blocked milk ducts then you have to be producing milk to have a blocked milk duct - no? If you are producing milk then it could be a hormone imbalance but certainly, I would go to your OB/GYN, just to make sure that things are ok, and check out the medications with a doctor who is willing to discuss everything about the medication with you so that you know what you are letting yourself in for.

Thank you so much, I will call my doctor Monday morning. I have my annual pap scheduled the first week of June and the IVF will be before then. I hate or should I say refuse to do a pap while pregnant so I guess I will just try to reschedule everything before then.
