Think my waters have broken ...

It's 10pm here, and I think my waters have just broken. I was getting little warm spurts every couple of minutes, although they seem to have stopped for now.

Even though I was desperate to go into labour, this isn't a great sign for me. I'm trying for a VBAC. My last birth was a caesarean, 3 days after my waters broke. I never went in labour or had any contractions, not even after a pitocin induction on day 3. As it turns out, DS was 10lbs 12oz and had an asynclitic head that was pushing sideways and never went down into my pelvis. I'm a little freaked that history is repeating itself.

Please send me some labour vibes. I'm excited that I'll probably get to meet my LO soon, but I really would prefer to avoid another c/section.

I'm off to relax with a RRL tea and hope that things get moving.

My thoughts are with you. My first baby I had PROM; labor didn't start for 2 days, and that was only after castor oil. And he was asynclitic, and even though I got to pushing, he just couldn't get out. I'm worried about a repeat too. But I know this LO is in better position [not posterior], so hopefully he'll get his head where it needs to be....

Here's hoping for contractions very soon for you!

Good labour & birth vibes to you!

If you think positioning may be an issue again, have you looked at this?

Well, it's and hour and half later and still no contractions. We're off to the hospital for an assessment, but will probably send us home if nothing is happening. DH is just taking DS to a friend's house to stay the night.

I'm slightly worried about infection this time, since DH and I DTD about 15 mins before my waters broke. Last time, I was happy to go the 3 days because I knew nothing had gone near my vagina.

As far as we can tell, this babe's positioning is quite good. He/she is vertex, anterior, and last Wednesday, the head was well down into my pelvis at station 2/5. My son's head never went down into my pelvis at all.

I just can't believe this seems to be happening again. I'm trying to keep a positive mind space, but it's really hard not to think I know what's going to happen (based on last time) ... and I would hate for my own thoughts to create that reality

Aargghhh ... must stop overthinking this, and just concentrate on visualising my baby coming out.

Sending you good thoughts. Active Birth recommends 7 or 8 garlic tablets and 1 gram of vitamin C every 2 - 3 hours to help prevent infection after 12 hours of water breaking and no contractions, fwiw. I have no experience with it personally however. It also mentions washing after toileting, avoid lying in a bath and avoiding vaginal exams.

I hope everything is going well, I can certainly relate to being afraid of repeating the past, that is probably my biggest fear for this birth (DD was also a c-section, after many days of non-productive labour). Think positive thoughts, this is a new day, a new baby, a different experience.

And FWIW, ejaculate is sterile... the only way I would be concerned in the least about DTD just before your water broke is if you are GBS+, otherwise, I'd stay home and wait it out like you did last time.

I'm always so glad to see Aussies. I think it's residual Aussie DNA.
Somehow I totally missed that Peppermint Poppies is Australian though.

Going off her saying it was 10pm, and her location, that's my guess

And I'm also guessing that she's having some progress, as she hasn't posted in a while! :
