Best deals on good prefolds?

Hi there - can't seem to find this anywhere but forgive me if a repeat.

Finally going to try cloth (did mostly GDiapers with #1 and early potty training). My #2 is 2 weeks and I wanted to buy some good prefolds to put in her brother's old Gdiaper covers. I thought this might be an affordable and easy way to ease into cloth without making a huge upfront investment.

I was just curious where the best deal was on high quality prefolds. I am considering Amazon's Indian or Chinese prefolds which look to sell for about $1.65-$1.95 a pop. (I have some Amazon gift certificates which i owuld like to use.) However, buying directly from the reseller (bunnyburybaby.com) it's about $1.49 each.

Is this a good deal? Could I do better? Any suggestions on how many to start with?

Thanks!!

Well, a newborn needs 2-3 dozen diapers to wash every other day. I prefer unbleached Indian cotton prefolds b/c they are softer than Chinese.

As for prices, you have to factor in shipping costs. Some sites offer free shipping on all orders and some don't. I have found a lot of variability in prefold pricing, probably b/c they are so heavy to ship that many people don't want to sell them with free shipping.

I would get http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/prefolds.htm these. They're my very favorite prefolds out of all I've tried and I'd never use anything else.

Before you buy on Amazon I would do some research on their quality. It seems that what some people sell (on eBay and stuff) is junk if you've used actual good cloth diapers.

From what I hear Little Lions has really good prefold prices. You could get some of their seconds also, which are even less and fully functional ($12-14/dozen). http://www.little-lions.com/

the GMD link above has great diapers, they have some seconds right now too, i just bought some. they have their own sizes though, not the standard infant/premium/toddler. www.little-lions.com is great too, and i got most all of the prefolds we used for my soms whole first year from www.clothdiaper.com i bought their seconds, and i dont even know why they were seconds, lol

Thanks for the link! I just starting looking into prefolds for the new baby and this was super informative and made prefolds look a lot less scary to me!
