Breasts too small to pump? HELP!

Ugh, I'm having so much trouble pumping. I have the Medela PIS and the medium shields were way too big, so I got some small shields (they're still kinda big for my nipples, but there's nothing smaller).

My big problem is that I can't get ANY kind of seal between my breast and the shield unless I'm *really* engorged, it's like my breasts are too flat to fit.

I only have a week of maternity leave left, so I need to get this figured out fast Anybody been there and have some suggestions??

I am so lopsided that I have this problem on one side but not the other.

Ameda makes Flexishields, a silicon insert that goes inside the flange. It is supposed to fit inside the Medela horns, as well. They aren't cheap, but I got mine off Ebay $20 a pair, shipped. Works better than nothing, for sure.

Avent included a "massaging cushion" with their pumps, and it is great. If you look at the Isis Uno or Duo, you'll notice their flanges looks like they have petals in them. Helps a lot, but I don't know of anywhere you can buy them without buying an entire pump :

Good luck!!

I'm trying some flanges from Pumpin pals and I get way more milk than I did with the Medela flanges that came with my PIS. I never liked the medela ones.

I don't know if you've tried it, but I also sometimes wet the area around my nipples a little bit (with water or breastmilk) to help the shields stick bettter. I think it helps.
