Carrier most like old Beco??

I have two Becos - one is a butterfly and one is ... I don't know, Beco pack? It has "anti-fgb" on it, whatever the heck that means! I think of it as an "original Beco" or "old Beco..."

I have the hang finally of the "OB" as we will call it - I can put either of my girls in it, they like it, I like it well enough (my only complain is it pushes my pants down...)...

For some reason, the Butterfly intimidates me. I have never used it. I have looked at it. I have considered it. I can't bring myself to try a baby in it. So I am trying to sell it... and wishing I had just gotten two "OBs"

Since you can't get the old beco any more... what carrier is most like it??? The Ergo seems bulkier but maybe it's the way to go?

Umm...maybe just an SSC like a Kanga or an Olives & Applesauce Full-Buckle?

The Kanga waist is very different from the old Beco, the Beco 4th Generation btw. The O&A is more like the Ergo because of its wide seat and darts in the body. Imho, AngelPack LX is the closest to the old beco. AngelPack top is shaped a little more oval than round, which gives it a little bit more height. But the 3-section belt is very close to the 4th Gen. Only major variation is that the pocket for the hood is hidden on the inside of the body rather than outside.

The fgm tag was a special run of carriers made to benefit a worthy cause.

hth.

4th gen, that's right, that's what it is really called.

I was thinking the Angelpack looked similar. Thanks!

Does it have straight-ish ahoulder straps like the 4th gen?? The butterfly has very curved ones which seem good for a front carry but for a back carry, it's like, where do my boobs go?? And I'm *really* not very endowed so it's really puzzling that I find this puzzling...

Yep, the Angelpack LX is probably the closest to the Beco 4th Gen.

You should try your Butterfly, though -- I find it more comfy for a back carry than a front carry (and I've got nothing to write home about in the boob dept. ).

The anti-FGM tag was for a carrier benefiting an anti-female-genital-mutilation charity. The tags accidentally got put on more carriers than intended.

OK now that just makes me feel weird. Someone asked me what AFGM means and I said "I have no idea." The carrier was NOT advertised as such when I bought it. I figured it meant anti-fatigue something or other. Now it's not that I am FOR female mutilation but I don't feel comfortable wearing something that even mentions it so UGH. I will just answer "I have no idea" if anyone asks again.

I have progressed to putting the baby in the butterfly and lifting it up and down to see if she really was secure in there but then I got distracted by something my 5yo did and had to take her out. She looked kind of alarmed. I may give it another go. I am thinking at least with her in there it will be easier to adjust after going to the bathroom. I find the Beco pushes my pants down and I have to take the baby off and readjust to really get them back where they belong if I go to the bathroom with her on my back. not so convenient if I am out by myself (without DH)

Delay in responding due to computer issues...
