We took ds1 out at two days old...to go bra shopping.
ds2 we took grocery shopping at 3 days old.

Its funny, I never get comments about them being too young when ppl ask how old they are while out and about.

He got a cold at 3 weeks old from his brother, but its only a stuffy nose and sneezing.

Look up wrapping on Youtube michanders4.

I have the ultimate wrap too! I've never used a wrap before so I thought it'd be really hard but no not after figuring it out the 1st time. It is so comfy and I have people asking me all the time where I got it. And Caleb loves it way more than the sling I have (I think he feels squished in the sling- the wrap is so much more strechy). If you google parents of invention it'll have the website which has the how-to video for the wrap on it.

We had Caleb out at day 4. Went to a MickeyD's to get ds4 out and play. also went to grocery and my mom's that same week. I can't stand being stuck for too long .

oli we took out at 1 week to show off to people at dh's work

Well, Eden's 4 weeks today and we're braving dh's work (he's a preschool teacher). I told dh the kids can't touch her.

The stretchy wrap has been working great for us for trips out, the downside is for me it seems to labor-intense to use just around the house for little forays into the kitchen or chasing after the toddler.

Good luck Kate!! When does DH go back to work?

Well, cord thing fell off yesterday and we now have an official preference for the bottle. I'm a little sad, but Z is just so aggressive that think I'm better off. At least pumping is going pretty well. I still need to add formula a couple times a day. He eats 3-4 ounces per feeding most of the time! :-O

I'll take him out to a softball game next week if it's warm enough. I hope to start playing The week after that.

nak

I have one! Its seems complicated to put on, but it's really not.I would definitely check out their website for instructions on how to do it. It's soooo comfy. Although, I prefer my baby hawk now...lol

I like having the option of going back to the stretchy wrap and I'm sure I'll use it again soon. I think you'll love it Michelle!

My herbal bath didn't go so well yesterday. I have more so I'm trying it again Monday when I can have someone to watch the other children. I'm thinking the water was too warm for Piper. She hated it. It was a short dip for her.

Her naval was bleeding yesterday. Cord fell off at day 4 but when opening the naval you can see what looks like fresh umbilical with three dried up veins. The inner circumference is sticky so I seal it. Its wasn't much blood. This morning, her onsis had a lot more blood on it. No blood now. This is really strange.

Has anyone delt with such a thing? Should I be worried? My inner gut says not to worry.

I did really worry about Hypothermia because she was profusely sweatting and breathing really fast. Its going to get up in the mid 90s today, hotter than yesterday. I have a window unit in here in the Master bedroom and worked hard at cooling her down yesterday. It worked. She is fine now. Keeping the window unit on. Its going to be a long summer.

fruitful, ds2's umbilical cord sounds like that a bit. I had bumped his cord so it partly came off and bled a bit. It was also gooey inside. I just tried not to touch it.
It's healed really well.

So with you on the animal germs My female cat is in LOVE with Xander. When we're nursing on the sofa she'll get up on my lap and rest her head on his butt and purr. My male cat is green with envy though, he used to be my baby.

I actually love my Moby for around the house. I leave it on then I can just take a minute to pop Xander in or out then get right back to what I was doing. I've gotten much faster at the in-and-out with practice Can't wait until I really get the hang of nursing in it.

Outings with baby-Well he was born in a hosital which are probably the germiest places known to man. So I'm going to say that birth was hois first outing Otherwise, we went to Walmart at 3 days old and because I get cabin fever so easily we've been out at least every other day, even if it's just to go to the mailbox :

Julian's cord fell off at 4 days as well, we got past the goopy stage, it looked mostly healed and then it started bleeding again yesterday. That would be at 12 days. I'm just leaving it alone and not worrying about it either.

Anyone else getting lots of people asking if you are done having children now? Or my other pet peeve, that we must be SOO thrilled to finally have a boy after 2 girls. I've never been asked this many times about my reproductive plans for the future, it is getting old quickly.

We get weird looks from people when we say we are done having children. I"m not sure if it's that we are only having 2 or if it's that we have two girls and they think we need to try for a boy... what do they know?!

I need some advice on reusable breast pads...I hate the disposables I've been using and they are so pricy...I have let down often throughout the day even when baby is not with me. I leak right through the store bought reusable ones so I need something more absorbant. OUr local CD supplier sells the following: lana wool, lily padz, happy heiny hemp. I also posted in BF. Thanks.

Gotta go change baby and nurse! So is life, but oh how I love it!!!

Nancy, there is a "pumpers" tribe over in breastfeeding (or breastfeeding challenges?). Some women have trouble keeping up their supply while pumping, and they are a good source of advice about all things pumping related. Like best way to pump while playing in a day long softball tournament?

I love my stretchy wrap, too. I quite often put in on and leave it- then I can pop Nora in when I need to. I do that before car rides, too, so that when we get to wherever we're going I don't have to tie it in a parking lot.

We also have a bouncy chair that I use when I shower in the mornings. Nora sits in the bouncy chair and Neela plays xylophone and sings to her while I shower

fruitful - our ped said bleeding from the belly button after the cord falls off is normal for up to 10-14 days even. Sure enough, DS2 bled for about 10 days. He also said that in his whole career (a couple decades, I think), he has only seen one case in which a baby got an infection at the cord site. That made me feel a lot better.

I'm in the opposite boat, I want another baby because I want a girl...I just always thought I'd be the mother of a girl...so it's hard to let that dream go. So when ppl ask if we'll try for a girl next time...honestly its a yes I would be so happy if I had another boy, don't get me wrong...but I always invisioned myself with a daughter. And we were going to be done with 2 kids, and I have opened the conversation with dh about *maybe* having a third. We'd be done at three kids though...5 boys later, I'm not going to keep getting pregnant just for a girl, I'm going to have my 'girl dream' go pretty soon. Dh thinks I should let it go now, but it really feels like mourning the loss of a daughter...maybe thats silly

Not silly at all! Maybe you'll have 5 more and they're all girls!

You probably know all the tricks of the trade, but I'll mention this one successful tip I used with #3 (who is a girl after two boys):

Semen -
Male seed is smaller and faster but die off quicker.

Female seed is larger and slower but live longer.

Ovulation -
For a boy, have sex when your cervical mucus is an egg white consistancy, silky and clear. Because you're ovulating right at that time.

For a girl, have sex BEFORE you ovulate so all the male seeds die off while the female seeds are still awaiting an egg to fertilize. Charting makes great practice at getting to know when you might ovulate.
