Different use for Mei Tai, slings, etc?

I'll be traveling overseas with my almost 2 year old and am a bit anxious about having him in restaurants, particularly ones without high chairs. Then I saw this
and thought that I could probably do something similar with my BH. Of course, I'm going to test it out first.
Has anyone done this before? Does anyone else have different uses for their mei tais, slings, pouches, etc?

Did it!

Okay- here's DS in the mei tai strapped to the chair. Here's a side view.
It'll be cleaner than a restaurant high chair- that's for sure- and maybe even a little more secure.
Thoughts?

The splayed leg thing looks weird and uncomfortable to me but if he's not complaining and it works for you, go for it.

I used my maya wrap on occassion to strap DS to a chair if there was no high chair. I'm not especially worried about the germ aspect of high chairs myself... as most eating is done off the table and that is the same regardless of the sitting arangement.

He seemed fine. He actually wanted to stay there for a long time. He often sits on my lap like that (legs splayed) anyway.
ETA: When he's in the mei tai/SSC on my back or front his legs are splayed too. It's not uncomfortable when my back is there so I'm pretty sure he's not uncomfortable at all.

Great use of your mei tai! Like you said, he rides like that on you, so it should be fine on the chair too. Plus, he's a big kid! He will be able to tell you if he wants down.

Thanks! I was getting a little sad because the BH is getting too small for him. I'm glad to be able to use it for something else- at least a little longer.

I think it looks like it works great!

I've used my wrap as a harness/seat belt in a restaurant high chair that didn't have a seatbelt, when my dd was little enough to need one. It worked great.

I use my wrap for a hammock-style swing hanging from a tree in our yard.

I use my wrap for a changing pad, kleenex, blanket, pillow, etc if I need to--hopefully not all on the same day.

I got to Joanne Fabrics the other day and my 4 year old realized she wasn't wearing any panties under her dress So we did a back wrap cross carry instead of the shopping cart . . . perfect!

And I've used a wrap or a mei tai around my waist/butt when I've had a surprise period on a plane flight and no change of clothing . . .

I think wraps are the most versatile!

Those are fantastic uses!
It's great that we can keep using these things in so many different ways.

I've used my sling while outlet mall shopping to hold my purchases. I started out with the baby, but daddy wanted a turn and didn't want to use the sling.

Definitely have also used it as a kleenex, etc, too!
