Aha, twin brothers but not YOUR twin! I get it!! Happy birthday to them!

I'm doing pretty good today. 1 week out and I'm pretty mobile now. Spent the morning outside with the baby in the sling just sitting enjoying the sunshine. He has the mildest case of jaundice so a little sunlight is good for him. He is a DREAM child. Super mellow, sleeps all night with just 1-2 feedings. Looks around and chills when he is awake. I am loving this!! :

Thinking about every one of you and sending : for the next few births!! I hope theres some soon!! I need post partum company!!

I didn't have any signs or anything before my past two labours. I just woke up with contractions each time.

I have symphysis pubic disorder.

I thought at first I pulled my thigh muscle Saturday night, but then it was both sides. I couldn't get in or out of bed, climb stairs, put on my pants,e tc. My chiro helped. Hopefully, it will be all gone before the baby is born because I can't imagine giving birth like this.

[QUOTE=Smithie;13705606] I mixed it with a shot of vodka and a couple of ounces of orange juice, per some crazy instructions on the internet. Uuuuuuuuugh. Don't do it!

Ewwww, so basically a castor oil Screwdriver?

After having to carry my grandma who couldn't walk to the bathroom and clean up the resulting mess after she got into the castor oil (My aunt would sneak it to her, I wouldn't give it to her.) I think I'll pass on it..lol

yikes. at first i was thinking, why would anyone want to "get into the castor oil" then I read about your Aunt. I'd be calling Auntie dearest and tell her she has quite a mess to clean up...

I knew it could be bad but I didn't know it was quite so effective at what it does...
Definitely always sounded like and old timey remedy to me. I will tell DH I will try castor oil if he will...We only have one bathroom though so that could get ugly fast!

It gets VERY ugly. And painful from what I could tell.

Grandma wanted it because she wasn't having a BM every day....But she wasn't taking into consideration you can't make a poop if you don't EAT enough to make one..lol She'd eat some peanut butter crackers, and some broth on a good day. She was my favorite person in the whole world, but trying to reason with her was like trying to reason with a brick wall.

Haha, I find that trying to reason with the umm, chronologically advanced can be pointless. My greatgrandmother who lived to 103 (by herself no less) had the entire family going crazy because they were trying to get her to stop eating candy...
She had it stashed all over the entire house, in books, vases, drawers etc...She ate candy until the day she died no matter what anyone did...

I don't have daily BMs and I eat plenty, this is pre pregnancy some people just don't go every day...Then again some people gotta go and go and go again, I don't envy them.

I'm there with you on the SPD...but I've been feeling it for at least 5 months. It is so excruciating! Some days are worse than others, but every night is miserable for me. It's been getting worse, too, as each day passes! : I've been meaning to go to a chiro for ages, but by now it's too late--I can't get an appointment before I give birth. Oh well. I'm glad to hear it's helped you some.

older people are totally obsessed with pooping everyday, rain or shine.

I am joining in for a whine. I am officially MISERABLE. I do not remember this hitting me with my last, even at 42 weeks. I've been in tears the last two nights from the pain and pressure. I walk around at the store now and people look at me with this look of pity. Yes, I'm huge, yes, I'm miserable, thanks for confirming that I look as bad as I feel!

With that said, I still will not be doing anything to get things going or agreeing to an induction unless medically neccesary, but I am wondering what my blood labs are going to show. Not much longer now, either way! (And can I say that I love the look on peoples faces when they find out how much time I have left? Everyone comments that I do not look that far along at all so when they hear a week and a half, their mouths drop open! )

I really wish I could get more than 4 hours of sleep at night.

I've been out of the loop because my sister and her fiance are in town visiting! We're very close so it's been wonderful.

I'll have to go through and read how the rest of you are doing, I've been so curious the past two days that I haven't been able to get online much!

Yesterday morning I lost a big chunk of mucus plug. I had small ctxs all day and some cramping. Last night for about 2+ hours, I had serious serious cramping and ctxs about 10-15 minutes apart. I think things will happen soon. My original due date is May 6th, tomorrow! Even after the ultrasound tech gave me the date of May 21st, I still sort of went by the first one. Small babies run in my family, and I wasn't convinced on the accuracy of the ultrasound. Anyway. Baby was kicking up a storm during the ctxs last night, felt as if she was moving herself down. She flipped positions a bit so her head feels like it's right in my pelvis. Ctxs going on this morning but not as significant as the ones last night. I've had ctxs come and go for the past week or so. I'm drinking my RRL tea and seeing what the day brings!

I'm still here - 37 weeks today. Yay! The next week would be not such a great time to have the baby (not awful either) so here's to another week of hoping the baby stays in. My DH won't be in his office this week (so harder to reach in a timely manner) and then my parents are coming this weekend. I get along with them for about 24 hours at a time when I'm not hormonally charged so things could get sticky. They offer to help, then ask approximately eleventy billion questions, tell me about this better idea they had, and basically are more work than they are help to put it very gently. So I'm trying to think of tasks that they can't do wrong to "help" around the house. Any suggestions? So far I'm going to have them go through DS1's dresser and fold all the clothes and separate them into shorts, pants, short sleeves and long sleeves.

April- glad to hear things are going well postpartum
Erin- hopefully your time will be soon! Sounds like good progress to me.

I'm 38 weeks today, and hoping bub comes out this week. Contractions are definitely stronger and not braxton hicks anymore but just no consistency. I too feel more pressure and cramping. Ultrasound/NST and appointment tomorrow. My mother swears he will come this weekend b/c of the full moon and it being mother's day. We'll see.....

I will be 37 weeks on Thursday and have had no signs of anything! I still can't find my cervix, no cramping, no contrax, not a thing. But, I'm okay with that truthfully. I have an out of town wedding on the 16th and we are staying over night so I can wait until after that. DH isn't even on vacation till the 2nd week in June since everyone figures I'll go late. I haven't even washed my diapers and covers yet!!! I kept telling myself I was waiting for the weather to get nice so I could hang the covers on the line, but it's been that way for a week and I've still not done it! I think I am deluding myself into thinking that I have longer than I really do!

thak you, i need to know this...
Sorry to hear about the symphasis, Lissa. I can't imagine!

10 days over today! Still with no signs of impending labor. Baby is sooooo active!

I have a funeral to attend for my uncle today...I've been in the public eye a bit too much for my taste, lately...telling people over and over that last SAt. was my due date. What a range or reactions I get! Those that have gone over sympathize with me...those who have not think I'm crazy!

I have until Mon. before I have to have cervadil. I am not too worried about the administration as I really don't believe that I will reach that point...Monday would put me at 16 days over. I went into labor w/ ds at 12 days over and had him at 14 days over.

So....I'd love to know what people have done in my position...
I see the doc. tomorrow...could ask for a membrane sweep. Should I? I'll get checked, for certain...but what do you all think (those of you who have this experience)???

Should I go for the membrane sweep, tomorrow? I'll be 11 days over. I REALLY want to avoid chemicals and the hospital. Tell me your stories!

**Might I add that I have an exact conception date...so my calculations can't be fudged at this point...**

I think I lost a bit of mucus plug last night!!!! : I never saw that with my first, just a touch of blood-streaked EWQM. Does that mean things might be happening soon?

I had a horrible meeting with an OB yesterday. I'm seeing midwives that work under OBs [I hate that model], and since I refused to schedule a "just in case" RCS before 42 weeks [their policy is to get me on the book for 41-41.5 weeks], I had to meet to discuss it with the OB Whatever.

I got the big "you aren't really a good VBAC candidate" speech [because I got to pushing and didn't "produce" a baby, so I must have true CPD, never mind that he was posterior and asynclitic], he threw out the dead baby card in the form of "even if you CAN get the head out, I'm worried about the shoulders getting stuck", and on and on. And really, that wasn't the point of the discussion, in my mind. I told him I'm willing to "get on the schedule" for 42 weeks, but unfortunately my 42 weeks date is Memorial day. They don't do "elective" surgeries on weekends or holidays. I keep trying to tell everyone that, trust me, if I have to have another c/s it WON'T be an elective surgery, but no one understands that point. He wants me to go on Friday which is 41w4d, but I said I couldn't guarantee I'd show up if he did that. So I'm going for 42w1d, and they're going to make me sign a waiver that I'm doing it against medical advice, yadda yadda.

SO, I'm hoping it's a moot point and baby comes this weekend. My due date is the 11th, and I've been seeing the #11 on clocks and such for over a year; the baby I miscarried this summer was also due on the 11th [of March], so I really feel like he'll be here on the 11th. Or else weigh 11 pounds. He is measuring big--which is their other worry--so who knows.

I had some pretty regular contx last night. They weren't very strong, I had them for an hour or two. Slept thru the night and woke this morning to none but theres a lot of pressure and had some mucus globs when I wiped. So...I'm hoping things are moving along for me. I need to make it a few more days then my mom and sis will be here. But if she comes before thats fine too. Although we have a wedding to go to friday night and I would really like to go (for friends we haven't seen in a while)

Mama Rana: sorry about the appt, hope baby comes soon for you.

Russianthistle: I would see where your cervix is at, if theres change going on I might just get a sweep to see if it'll help get things going.
I agree with cmoma up there. I forgot to quote though.

I also forgot to mention that I started a baby quilt yesterday in a fit of insanity.

I hope baby decides to come soon before you have to decide.

With that said, there are a lot of things I would try before I had to be induced medically, yes, including castor oil. Only in this case, though.

If your cervix is favorable, yes, I'd ask for a sweep. It's another one of those things that, if your body isn't ready, it won't work. It finally worked for me with #2 at 13 days overde and facing induction.

I did take caster oil with #4 at 14 days overdue. No, it wasn't pleasant, but it definitely did clean me out. My water broke that evening and she was born about 2 1/2 hours later. You can try a castor oil belly rub if that's preferable to you. I know some people swear by it and say it doesn't cause the same bowel issues. I've never tried this, but may this time if faced with an induction. (Which unfortunately may be sooner than I'm ready depending on pre-e results.)

I have been taking homeopathics since 36 weeks since they were talking about inducing. One of those IS blue cohosh, BUT it's only 1x a week so I think it's not nearly as effective that way. It's supposed to help prep the cervix. Well, my cervix isn't doing diddly squat! However, I think if taken the way it is normally intended (this "recipe" is to prepare for four weeks before your due date, not to get babe out quicker, etc.), I think it could/would be pretty effected. Black and blue together scare me and honestly I *do* notice more contractions on the day that I do the blue so I can see how it would work, if needed. Just not sure if I'm more comfortable with that or castor oil. Probably the latter. Has your doc/midwife suggested anything to try to help get things going?
