Breastfeeding Promotion Act Reintro

I was contacted and am just giving a heads up. Rep. Maloney's office is gearing up for a reintro of the BPA. I am going to be organizing the activist presence at the press conference again. Maybe with Dems in power in both houses and the White House, this can be the year. Given that a lot of women friendly bills ARE getting passed (Lily Ledbetter, the Federal Worker paid maternity leave...) I am thinking we have a much friendlier environment. My eleven year olds were still nursing when this was first introduced. It is about time.

The tentative date for reintro is later this month and when I have firm details I will ask all of you to start spreading it far and wide. I hope we can get a massive pre-press conference call/writing campaign to get more Reps. as cosponsors and showing up at the press conference. What can you do now? Go to Maloney's website and see if your Rep is a cosponsor. If not call his/her office and ask to speak to a legislative aide and ask your Rep to be a cosponsor. If you live near DC and have a breastfeeding in the workplace discrimination story and are willing to travel, you may be able to speak (in the past we have had mother's share stories with the press) so PM me.

Thanks for your work on this! Please keep us updated here and let us know what we can do to help. I've sent bunches of letters on behalf of this effort and I'm so happy to see it get another push.

Will be working on my rep in the meantime. If I can drum up enough local mama voices just maybe he will cosponsor. Not likely (he's socially very conservative) but worth a shot!

: I couldn't find anything either. I'd like to write my congressman but I don't know if he's a cosponsor or not.

Sorry, I don't have updated info other than what is on the website now. They are dragging their feet a bit on finalizing plans and getting out a press release. Hopefully by Friday I will have details and they will have updated the website.

Yes, a reintroduction and press conference in early June. Beyond that I don't know what else.
