There's another sheltie I'm looking at, a 2 year old male, who is with a breeder with a very small kennel (I think she said 3 adults including him and currently 1 litter of puppies).
She has a son about my son's age who apparently spends time playing with the dogs, which I really like. I feel like she can totally assure me that he's good with kids.
Anyway, she says that she keeps the dogs in a "room" in her house, that has a doggie door and a run outside. She said it's not a kennel, but they also don't have the run of the house. She also said that the dog is not housebroken, because they never tried, but he's a quick learner. I'm not sure if that means he goes in the room, or he doesn't know how to hold it because the doggie door is always there. He's a show dog -- has won a couple of times, wouldn't they have to housetrain him? Do they just go in the ring?
She also says they spend a lot of time with the dogs.
Does this situation sound OK? Otherwise he sounds like a great dog -- playful, outgoing, good with kids.
Does this sound reasonable?
