There are wrappers here right?

I was telling my hubby how I want a woven wrap as my next baby carrier. With Mothers' day right around the corner, he told me to send him links to my top three.

I'm looking for something somewhat cool since the summer is upcoming yet still supportive. I also want something neutral or a boyish in color. Didymos Silver Waves is one that I've looked at several times. It seems people talk about Vats and Pfaus when talking about cooler wraps. I've also heard good things about Dolcinos being light weight but rather supportive.

Help me pick a great wrap.

Maybe this isn't what you are looking for but I have a wrap I made from material from a fabric store. I bought it in the home decor fabric section and it cost me about $10. I had to cut it in half so I got two wraps for $10 and it is great.

gypsy bali breeze is supposed to be great for hot weather - but I'm not a wrapper! Too much for me!

Here are some brands to get you started - Gypsy Mama Bali Baby Breeze, Calin Bleu, Ellaroo, Vatani, Didymos (the jacquards are thin), Neobulle Lin, BBslen and Girasol. And once you narrow them down, just pick your favorite color! Then you know you'll love wearing it.

I have heard about Calin Bleu and GM BBB as being two of the coolest wraps but I worry about the amount of support in a gauze wrap. My guy is bordering on 19 lbs and I'd like to continue wearing him for a while.

I'm not sure if I'm interested in Ellaroo because I don't think I'm a fringe type of person.

I would be interested to hear more about Neobulle. I saw one in person and it was lovely although I didn't get to touch it.

If I ask for a wrap, my hubby will be hurt if I don't use it enough or if I decide to trade it for something else. I'm looking for something that is a bit on the workhorse side without being heavy weight. (I know, a lot of criteria.)

We have an Ultimate Baby Wrap and both my husband and I wear it all year 'round. It is sturdy but not thick at all and has a tiny bit of lycra to help to get the tension just right (picture material like a thin t-shirt that has a little stretch to it... like a "girly" t-shirt with a little shape. It is very comfy and breathable, even in summer, but it feels solid and secure).

We've been using this wrap for about 4 years, 2 babies .

If you need a workhorse I really like the BB Slens. They have them at novanatural.com.
They are thin but wide and sooooo comfy.

You should be fine with gauze at this weight. They aren't the most supportive or cushy on the shoulders wrap, but they work well and especially for summer.

If you want one and only one wrap and will not be getting another one in the future, but you want it to be nice in both winter and summer, then go for something like BBslen, Girasol, Didymos (again the thinner ones), Vatani, or Neobulle Lin or Taupe. The striped Neobulles are not as thin as BBslen, but I do like the Neobulle colors much better.

My suggestion though is to plan on two wraps. Not only for variety and different seasons, but also because with a little one, the wrap is bound to get dirty often, so it's nice having one to wash and one to wear.

baturay - It might not be my only wrap ever but it will likely be a lone wrap for a while. My hubby is weird about gifts so it needs to be something I will want to keep around, well, forever.

Some cush on the shoulders would be nice.

There are so many Didy's out there. Would anyone know of a resource breaking down the different types and what their strengths are?

Best resource for some truly wrap talk is TBW and in the Wrapping forum. I'm also "baturay" on TBW.

baturay - I did post there but hadn't gotten any responses yet when I posted here. (I've gotten a few responses now but still unsure.) My post there is titled "enable a newbie".

almadianna - Thanks for the first hand account of Waves. (It likely won't be the one he'll chose since it'll be the priciest one on the list.)

I just thread your thread there and I'm laughing because the responses are all over, so not much help in narrowing down. LOL

I think if I were you...I'd pick based on what colors of all these brands you like best. They are all really good brands and you will get a excellent wrap, but loving the color is huge too.

I ended up giving my hubby a smattering of wraps to chose from: Silver Waves, Neobulle Lili, Zara Lemongrass, a (used) silk indio and a (gently used) Dolcino. I would lean towards either the Dolcino or the Neobulle for affordability although Silver Waves is sooo striking.

I'll come back and update if he actually bought me a wrap because knowing him he'll decide on something else or otherwise wait till the last minute and realize they can't teleport wraps!
