carpenter ants?

There is a place under my door where saw dust keeps showing up. Like something is eating the door frame. Is this carpenter ants? I saw some small ants in the saw dust. I thought carpenter ants were big? If this is carpenter ants how do I get rid of them in a non-toxic way?

oh man, I had a huge problem with carpenter ants last year and when I started seeing them appear this year I literally started digging the dirt where their nest was and pouring boiling water down there and watched the suckers float up dead. I know that sounds nutso and like a lot of work, but I tried a ton chemical free/natural ideas and poisons as well and nothing worked until I went all crazy on them with boiling water.

Carpenter ants are really big. We had them a few years ago. The best way to get rid of them is to block off their access and take away any water sources they could get to. If you are seeing small ants, it does not sound like carpenter ants, but the same solution may still apply.
