DS poops everything out hardly chewed; is he getting enough nutrients?

So, sorry to be a bit graphic, but my 1yo only has two teeth, but loves to eat foods he can pick up. Problem is, he obviously doesn't chew them up really well and I wonder if his body can really be getting that much benefit from the food. He still nurses a ton, so I'm not too worried, but I'm wondering if I should make more of an effort to get him to eat pureed stuff. Any thoughts?

My kids had undigested-looking poops til their molars came in - around 20 months.Perfectly normal, don't worry! Pureeing food won't increase the nutritional benefit. It's great that he's self feeding, definitely the way to go IMO

At his age, food is for practice, not nutrition. BM is for nutrition. So long as he's still getting plenty of BM, you don't need to worry about the nutrition he's deriving (or not) from his solids.

A lot of stuff comes out looking like it goes in. I fed mine peaches for breakfast one morning (cut up) and found them in their diapers that afternoon - I swear I could have put them on a plate and served them to someone I didn't like, they looked THAT much like they had gone in.

Totally normal! The first time I fed my ds carrots, they came RIGHT back out in his diaper, looking exactly like they did before they went in! I think most parents run into this problem at one time or another.
