Questions for LA users ... - Page 2

Hmm. I nurse first then start the supp when he stops actively swallowing, stop at half the supplement then switch breasts and repeat. A typical feed is now maybe 30-40 minutes depending on how focussed he is. When he was younger (he's now nine months) it would routinely take an hour+.

Wow ... so we're about the same as where you were at when your little one was younger, an hour plus change. So tiring. I admire you for sticking with it, Megan. And the popping on and off eventually stopped or lessened?
I hope?

It really did get better.
It's not so great right now because my son is cutting four (!) teeth at one time and is grumpy and distracted and has bitten me a few times but it really does get better.
It is sooo frustrating, like "don't they know how much I'm doing to $%! breastfeed!"
You're doing a great job, mama.

I usually put them in a plastic container so nothing is pushing on them but they leak regardless. I've also had multiple occasions where my LA was lying between DS and me and he pushes in too hard against it and the thing basically explodes all over us. I'm so fed up with using LA's.

Starling- i'm having the same problem where DS is way too easily distracted and constantly wants to pop on and off and on and off the boob and i'm constantly having to reposition the LA in his mouth. Oh I hope this stage ends soon or I may just give up.
About the leaking...after you fill it, do you secure the tube in the little slice in the ring? It 'kinks' it shut, if you get what I mean. The little slice is like the nick in old school spools of thread where you'd snug the thread to keep track of it.

About the distraction...Megan73 assures us that it gets better, mama. I'm not one to offer advice or wisdom, being that we're going through the same challenges, but I am hoping you can take some comfort from the mamas who have Been There, Done That. One day at a time, right?
