What carrier is best for 20+ ln baby?

Hi. I have been reading a lot of negative things about Baby Bjorn and babies hips.
It also hurts mama's back.

Is there a carrier that is easy to use and puts little/no strain on mama's back?

TIA!

I have read through some of the reviews, there are just way too many!

Soft structured carriers (SSC) such as the Ergo are Beco Butterfly are great for bigger babes and most find them to be very comfortable. They are also better on babies spines and hips because the baby is in a seated position with their knees high.Woven wraps are also great for distributing weight evenly.

I can wear my 25 pound toddler on my back practically all day in the ERgo. She's content to sit in it too, unlike when I have her in the sling in a hip carry. I'd definitley recommend the Ergo!

I'd say an Ergo or Beco. Both are comfortable for my 30 lb 2 year old.

I have an ergo and I love it. I also have a lot of other prettier carriers, but for a heavier baby, ergo is definitely my first choice. I can (and do) wear my 23 lb dd on my back (or front) for hours and feel no pain or strain in my back or shoulders.

My 18 month old is 26 pounds, and I'm a big fan of soft structured carriers too -- we use the Ergo, Beco, AngelPack, Pikkolo (with support belt), Olives and Applesauce, and Calyx. (SSCs are my favorite!

Another Ergo fan here.

I have a heavy baby, too, and lots of carriers, but this one is the only one that I can handle him in for longer periods of time.

I'm not a fan of the newer beco butterfly, but I love my Ergo and I think the pikkolo is also good. Oh and maybe angelpack!

I have a Beco (the 4th gen, so older) and I love it for back carries. I couldn't get into it till my babies were 10+ months old but now I used it all the time. Personally I liked the Bjorn when they were smaller...

Having them on my back is great though. One of my babies is 19 pounds or so, the other is closer to 25. I actually find the 25 pounder easier to carrier because she sits still whereas the 19 pounder leans back and squirms a lot. Either one is good, though. I love feeling them pressed against my back. It's like a massage, LOL. And I really love when they get hiccups...

I also have a beco butterfly but have never used it... it intimidates me. The 4th gen is so much simpler. I want a second carrier for DH for the other baby, will look for a used 4th gen or an ergo or an angel pack on reccomendations here.

I love wraps and ergos. they offer more support for larger babies.

Yes I love the older beco 4th gen. too. Ergos seem to pretty closely regulate the sales, and they don't allow co ops. Maybe gently used would be an option, if you're interested in taht.

Ergo!! Love it

I would also consider a mei tai. I like mine even better than I liked my Ergo, but that worked really well too--even hiking around SF with a nearly three year old!

I had a pretty slow learning curve on the Ergo which is really bizarre because I had no trouble with back carries with a wrap. I just couldn't figure out how to reach everything and my arms go numb if they are in strange positions too long.

However, now that I have mastered the Ergo it is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

I like the Kozy personally. I don't find the Ergo that comfy with my big heavy babies.
