Omnivores w/out Milk

Thread Starter
Are there any omnivores out there who do not drink any milks? If so, where are you getting your (and more specifically, your kids) calcium? Vitamin D?

TIA

Bone broth is a great source of calcium, as are many other foods. Spending time outside (in the garden) provides me with all my Vit. D.

the sun and lots and lots of greens!

We cook with rice milk which is fortified, give vit D supps and high vitamin cod liver oil, all in addition to sunlight and dietary food sources. With my picky toddler I can't guarantee she'll always eat the healthy food I prepare, but that would be my preference over supps.

Other great nondairy source of calcium are beans and legumes, almonds, sesame seeds (tahini), dark leafy greens like kale, blackstrap molasses. Most nondairy milks and many cereals fortified with vit. D and of course there's the sun.

We don't drink milk but do consume dairy. DD just won't drink milk so we give her plenty of cheese, yogurt (and full-fat ice cream!) and I try to make stuff with milk in it. That plus all the other suggestions from pp's.
