About a month ago, my 2 yr old swallowed the wire loop on the end of my needle threader. She is really verbal, and was with me at the time. She felt it get stuck in her throat, then go down. She did not cough or vomit. She pooped several hours after she swallowed it, then not again before the x ray a day and a half later. It did not turn up in the x-ray.
I asked the x-ray technician where it might have gone, and he said the only possibilities were that she didn't swallow it (she did), she gagged it out (she didn't), or she pooped it out (3 hrs after it went in?) The radiologist did not think that it could have been in there and he didn't see it (but it is so darn tiny!!), and he said it wouldn't have dissolved in her stomach.
So where the heck did it go?
My mom said she thought they were made of plastic. But I really thought it was wire.
