Thoughts on Midwives by Chris Bojahlian?

What did you think of it, did you agree with Sibyl's philosophy, the premise of the book, is 'vagaling' medically possible, etc.

I'm in a book club reading it, and most people are kinda, "Homebirth is interesting but something I'd never do. You're so brave."

So here I am planning a homebirth in less than a month.

I had another MDC friend who said there had been a discussion by some nurses on the book, but I couldn't find it. If you know of it, please post!

Thanks!

i read and loved this book. it was the first i'd read by bojahlian, and led me to read more by him. i read it on my own and then one of my book clubs read it. the members are about 1/3 very mainstream, 1/3 crunchy and 1/3 in between....and also quite varied w/ marrieds, singles, kids, no kids, etc.

everyone enjoyed the read and it was an interesting discussion. we talked more about doulas, midwives, birth coaches, etc and pregnancy/labour in general as opposed to the homebirth issue. most were in favour of having that kind of support but it was split as to whether it should be in addition to or in place of a doctor.
