This is the backbone of my stash. I have three dozen. Fit the teeniest newborn to a big sturdy toddler. All in the folding (or doubling). And they dry in a wink.
With,
these, of course.
For covers, I like
fleece pull ons during the day, and
wool pull ons at night. Unlike the diapers, these have to come in sizes. But they are still fairly cheap, and the fleece dries fast.
I also have six of
these that I use at night. Because one side isn't sewn together, these get good airflow and also dry quickly. I top the hemp/flat sandwich with some fleece- just $2 of malden mills that I bought and cut to size.
For wipes,
these are my favorite. (Scroll down.)
And, for when we're out and about, I have a dozen of
these. They snap together really well, so you don't need a true wetbag, a nylon sack will work. They don't come with inserts, which I think is good- saves on turnaround time and shipping. I stuff them with microfiber towels from the automotive dept at WalMart, $12 for 25. Two per dipe for a little baby, three per dipe for an older baby. They come apart in the wash and dry in a wink.
I use drawstring nylon laundry bags to hold dirties, and a spray bottle to wet the wipes. In the winter, I put the sprayer on a heating pad.
Oh, and I use Lanisoh as nipple cream, for bum rashes, and to clean my wool (with a little Dr. Bronner's). No butt cream or wool wash needed.
I tried prefolds, all in ones, and what felt like every cover known to man. I discovered that I hate touchtape, I like things to be one size whenever possible, and, that, the thicker the diaper, the longer they take to wash and dry, which might make the electric company happy, but makes me
