For some reason I can't get a proper poll to work, so here's an improper one.

Of these three names, which do you like the best (if you like any of them at all)?

* Arden
* Ariel
* Avalon

Thanks y'all!

You don't think it's still too early, given The Little Mermaid? I love Ariel and consider it to be from The Tempest (because... it is), but others may think I named her after a Disney princess, which kinda bugs me.

Arden has always been on my short list.

Avalon is pretty, but I love Ariel. And, who cares where people think you got the name?!

I'm voting Avalon.

I love the meaning and sound of Ariel but I hate the princess thing. Ruined it for me. I like avalon.

Wow, I love them all.

I'd go for Avalon or Ariel myself, pending how they flow with the middle name & surname.

I like the sound of Avalon. The very first thing I think of when I hear Ariel is the Little Mermaid.

I had a friend in college named Avalon -- I always thought it was a beautiful name!

I like Arden. Very Shakespearean.

Avalon!

They are all cool names - any of them is a good choice! I like Avalon the best - it is a pretty name and a lovely, sweet place to spend time. It might be a little to similar to Ivan, though...

I have a friend (she's 20) who was born with red hair, thus her parents named her Ariel at birth after the Disney version princess. She loves it, we all love it. Some people try to call her Arielle (airy-L) but she won't have it . I don't think it's too soon!

As the mother of a DD with long, red hair, Ariel is one of my least favorite names. People DEFINITELY associate it with the Disney character. My DD gets called "Ariel" by cashiers, kids on the playground, you name it. It's irritating, because we're a Disney limiting family.

Avalon is really, really pretty. Unfortunately, it was/is also the name of a large and popular head shop in Pittsburgh. That's always my first association.

I love Arden. Unusual, but classy and neutral in a good way. The name will grow to suit the child, instead of the other way around.

avalon first, arden second, ariel over my dead body

too popular, too cutesy, too many kids at the high school where i worked named ariel.

actually, i had never heard of avalon before as a name and i LOVE IT!!

we're pretty much done with kids so i might steal it for a cat
