Ouch! Awful pulled muscles

A few weeks ago, I pulled a muscle in my groin which still hurts but such is the nature of groin pulls. That one never gave me the misery of what I experienced last night.

I honestly don't know how it happened, but the sheet of abodominal muscles on the right side of my abdomen started hurting while I was resting in bed yesterday afternoon. When I stood up, I couldn't stand up start and then I have 4 or 5 contractions that were so painful over the next 20 minutes. This caused my husband to start freaking out that he wasn't ready for me to have the baby that night.

Thankfully the contractions stopped but the muscles were still hurting ALOT. I tried homeopathic arnica, massaging arnica and comfrey oil on it. And then this morning I had to bust out the big guns when I was whimpering in bed at 6:45 am after only 4 hours of sleep. My husband talked me into some ibuprofen. I took it and then was able to sleep for 4 more hours, blessed relief.

This morning the muscles are sore, but just an ache nothing like last night (searing pain last night). I really hope that pain doesn't come back or if this soreness stays that it doesn't intensify if labor starts.

In my last pregnancy, I pulled the same sheet of muscles and it hurt for a day. That was at 25 weeks and I didn't feel any contractions during that time. This was much worse and it seriously scared me. I knew if I were to have the baby that I could handle that added discomfort, but its definitely not my first choice or something I'm going to seek after during the birth of my baby. If she had been born last night, I'd probably remember the pulled muscles more vividly than the contractions!

Ouch! I'm glad you're feeling a little better today. Wonder what made the pain so bad when you were just laying down? Yikes.

Good question...my best guess is that she moved down lower and settled onto muscles that weren't used to supporting her weight. That could explain why I didn't feel any of the pain until I got upright.

Today was better but I'm hurting pretty bad tonight. I've had some more contractions but with no regularity.

My husband gave me the update that he'll be ready for the baby to come Monday afternoon, but it would be best if she stayed inside until then.

Watch...she'll stick around for another 3 weeks....

I hope you feel better before having to labor. Maybe you should try some alcohol if you go thru contractions like that again? It might rest your uterus and your pulled muscles. Feel better soon!!

I'm tempted by the wine recommendation, even though I typically dont drink alcohol. I dont want to take more ibuprofen, but I'm not sure which is worse between the two.

The hurting muscles are still very sensitive and hurt to the touch. I just wat the hurt to go away.

At this point, I don't think either wine or ibu will hurt you.

If alcohol makes you sleepy, though, that seems like a good reason to make it your drug of choice at this juncture.
