I'm calling it the "momma-bink"

Anyone's LO NOT take a pacifier?

I'm totally about to invent a new kind of pacifier that mimicks real skin and is the shape of a moms pinky...

because that's the ONLY thing that Parker will take to sooth him. He used to take this great Natersuten (sp) rubber orthodontic one... but now I can only get him to take that if he wakes up in the middle of sleeping. He won't take the soothie from the hospital anymore. I tried a different paci, with a shorter nub and a plastic front, also a no go.

I'm no longer worried about nipple confusion.... and I feel like it would be helpful for him to have a paci to soothe, especially because I won't be available to comfort nurse when I go back to work in a few weeks. I don't want him to be stressed, I really wish he'd find his own thumb (which he has a few times... but he's still so young to REALLY get it).

Anyways.... I've been telling DH how I'm going to invent a paci that is shaped like my pinky for him, because that's all he really wants.

I don;t introduce them. i have them, my dd played with them as toys, but i never used them. - my boobs are his paci

riley hates for anything other than my boob to be in her mouth. no pinky, no binky, no nothing. lol granted, i haven't tried very hard.

Can you get these patented and mass produced ASAP please? It's a serious pain to manuver a pinky into a baby's mouth when they're in a wrap

Never tried one, have been wondering though if it would soothe this one more at night though.

when i was pg, i was thinking no binky with this one. now im thinking it would be a real help while im alone here all day with the girls, and at night when dd spends a lot of time comfort nursing. are there any types of binkies that are supposed to be better for bf'd babies? i think i remember reading a thread on here about it, ill go back and check. im not quite ready to intro one yet, i want to give it a couple more weeks, but if i do decide to go that way i want to know if there's any specific type to be looking for.

Have you tried encouraging thumbsucking? *ducking* I know I'm going to regret it with my daughter (ortho costs in our future *sigh*) but for the sleep it affords... ahh, such relief...

Just a thought.

i actually did try to get her to suck her thumb! lol. she so far has not been having it. i honestly dont even know for sure she will take a binky. she is not really happy with my finger or anything except the breast at this point. im going to give it a try though, and if it wasnt meant to be then oh well.

Call it the Pinky-Binky!!

Loving the Pinky-Binky idea!

Good luck!!! A friend of mine whose son spent time in the hospital used a special kind of binky that was introduced there. Not sure what it was called - maybe someone else here will know???

My oldest dd refused my DP's attempts with the binky. She would actually gag, so we quickly tossed the idea. We didn't even bother trying with dd #2: I was full-time at home by then, so human binky luckily wasn't a problem.

I've been helping Xander discover his thumb...and fingers...and wrist, he's starting to get the hang of it but then he'll hear a noise and the arms go flying out like Frankenstein

If it makes you feel better about your daughter, I sucked my thumb(s) non-stop all the way up to puberty and am the only one in my family with straight teeth. Hopefully your daughter will be lucky like me

both of my cousins did until their teens and their teeth are fine too.

Ben will take a pacifier....when he is calm and happy. Otherwise, there is only one type of nipple that will soothe him. My older son was the same way and he stopped taking a paccifier by 6 weeks. Of course, now that Ben is using them, he wants them, but he just carries them around and plays with them.

Mine will not. A real PITA for car trips- we live far from everything!

Well now I'm having second thoughts... i want to know about those better for BF babies pacis??? I don't mind the breast sucking all the time, but DD2 gets so mad as my breast spray all the time! I wish these breasts had a shut off valve!

Decided to hold off on the paci...but used the pinky binky today. DD2 was screaming in her carseat while it takes forever for DD1 to buckle herself, so I put the pinky in and she calmed down and I jumped in the front seat just as DD1 was done and off we drove...DD2 fell asleep...aaaahhhh peace.
