Breastpads?

I'm tired of spending so much money on disposable breast pads so I'm going to make some. I was just wondering what everyone else makes theirs out of. I have tons of fabric... bamboo, hemp, pul, flannel, sherpa, microfiber... I make cloth diapers so I have a large variety. What combination's do you use and how many layers of each? Do you use pul to make them leakproof?

I made my nursing pads out of flannel that I had left over from winter PJs for my older two. I did most pairs with 4 layers each and then I did a couple pairs of "night time" pads that were 6 layers each. I found they were absorbant enough that I didn't need a waterproof outer to prevent leaking.

Thanks. I ended up doing 1 layer of hemp fleece with 2 layers of flannel on either side, for 5 layers total. I'll use them tonight and see how they work and tweak them from there. Thanks for the help!

I make breast pads from left over diaper materials - flannel and PUL, usually, like these. Bamboo fleece also works great.

Those are cute! I love the map material! I'm using leftover diaper materials too but so far am experimenting with absorbency. I'd use my bamboo fleece but somehow I managed to misplace an entire yard of purple bamboo fleece. (And it's the ONLY purple fabric I have! How does that happen?)

You can cut circles out of a soft, felted wool sweater. They're very comfortable and absorbant.
