I love this too, but I have a friend who had a real complaint with it - she was really psyched up for a energizing labour, and found it painful and difficult in a way she thought it wouldn't be. She isn't a naive person, but had kind of got the idea that with the right attitude, she wouldn't feel the way she actually did.

I can see how that happened, and I think it can make some people feel inadequate, especially if they don't have the kind of support the moms in the book did. But it's still a real favorite of mine.
