New, no longer vaxing - can I fix this?

Hi, I have an almost 6 month old baby (my second, my first dd is fully vaxed).

My 6 monther developed some help problems at around 2 weeks - severe digestive issues. I did a lot of research and became very uncomfortable about vaccines as her digestive system issues left her immunologically compromised.

Well, she did have the prevnar vaccine at I believe 4 months due to intense pressure from the doc and dh. She stopped using her left hand and stopped babbling.

She is now finally using her left hand - the last few nights she has been splashing in the tub with her left as well as her right (she was only doing her right). She babbles some, but I have noticed it is usually only when she has something in her mouth - like her hand or a toy.

Well, we got fired from our doctor and have started seeing an osteopath. She reccomends vaccines but says ultimately they support the parents.

I have done the following to help my baby recover from the vaccine:
1. lots of probiotics
2. multivitamin
3. fish oil
4. chiropractor
5. no more vaccines
6. I am looking into a glutathione supplements
7. physical therapy
8. I guess we will watch her and investigate speech therapy
9. daily epsom salt baths
10. a weekly detox clay bath

Is there anything else I can do to help her?

I'm not a fan of giving anything to the baby, esp. at 6 mos. Are you breastfeeding? There is really no use and possible harm in additional vitamins, fish oil. Take them yourself and she'll get everything she needs from you.

With a reaction like that I wouldn't be giving any more vaccines either.

I agree...Id hold off on giving anything (except probiotics) to a 6 month old...when she is a bit older I would consult a ND about how to further support her immune system and certainly no more vaccines! Poor baby...hope she fully recovers

Well, we were unable to breastfeed. I gave her what I could - and it was not a lot. I buy breastmilk from the state milk bank, but it is expensive and can only afford to give her around 6 ounces a day. The rest of it is neocate.

I love and swear by probiotics - they have helped her immensely.

The Dr. Sears fish oil says it is safe for 6 months and up. Before that I used Dr. Fuhrman's which was safe for her age.

I will ask the ped about the multivitamin. And defininitely wouldn't do anything else without a lot of research and talking to the ped.

Thanks for the info, I'll ask about the multivitamin.

And yes - definitely no more vaccines.

I agree about not giving her anything, but would definitely give her probiotics and try to pay attention to her nutrient intake to make sure that when she can have more and good stuff, she can get it and as much of it as she wants.

Also, most definitely get her in to see a good corrective care chiropractor that markets as having a 'family' practice and does not see themselves as a 'back doctor' but as one who helps the body get out of its own way to do what it was intended to do, i.e. heal itself.

As she gets older, you might seek out a naturopath or other holistic practitioner that might recommend a vaccine nosode or other treatment at that point; but at present, good nutrition and probiotics and a good chiropractor should do wonders for her.

: And WTG for listening to your daughter's problems, your mama instincts, and educating yourself so that you know what to do!!!

From the experience we had with my grandson, the best cure was when he ran some severe fevers that we did not interrupt. After several in one year, he made huge improvements and everything seemed to become 'normal'.

He was 4 at the time he had the fevers. By the time he was 5, he was ready for Kindy and has done well ever since. He is 11 now.

I will deviate from the majority opinion and say that additional nutritional support is probably very, very important for your LO.

There's a difference between enough nutrition to keep up with current detoxification, and what's necessary to correct problems. IMO supplements play an important part in correcting longer-term problems, and the thing is, most kids who are vaccinated do not have such a bad reaction, so considering what is different about you and your LO is important to understanding and correcting your LO's health.

For me, my kids' health is intricately intertwined with my health. My second child would've been at much higher risk of problems if I had vaccinated him, and it's related to my health.

We've having some interesting (to me) discussions in the Allergies forum about detoxification pathways, many of us with food intolerances (you should consider this for yourself, even if you're not breastfeeding, for your own health) have impaired detoxification, and some of us need extra folate (not folic acid), many of us are low in zinc or selenium (part of the reason we're low on glutathione), everyone's got a different story, but we're working to figure things out. It could help you fine-tune your nutritional support.

One thing that was important to my son was coordinating motion from left-to-right. My son was very, well, clumsy, it was obvious even at 6 months, and our old chiro (will always be thankful to him) told me it wasn't right, and helped me teach him to cross-crawl and work on left-right coordination, things like bicycling w/ baby lying on his/her back, I did a lot of crawling races with my older daughter, to model cross-crawling--poor kiddo was watching and trying so hard to copy us. It took some work (less than I really should've expected), but he's a very coordinated kid now (he's 3yo). Not sure if the PT you mentioned is similar, but this is something that can be done at home.

And maybe you've already looked into the PT aspect a lot more, I was just surprised at what a long-term difference this has made for us. And I feel like I lucked into the idea!

I would get the books Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, and also the book How to raise a health child IN SPITE of your doctor, by Dr. Robert Mendelsohn. They are so awesome! The former book saved my own health, I was starting to get symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis (my mom has it). I couldn't even pick up my ds, my wrist hurt that bad! After taking the advice and the nutrition in that book, a few months later I had recovered. They are both great resources! The second book gave me the confidence to say no to vaccines, any vaccines.
