bulky diapers and mobility

Does the bulkiness of cloth diapers hinder crawling/walking?

Short answer: nope.

I do often twist-fold my babies' prefolds once they are getting mobile, to reduce the bulk between the legs. But even that isn't necessary.

Cloth-diapered babies learn to crawl and walk just fine, I promise.

Giant cushy diaper-butt makes falling when learning to stand/walk more comfy, too.

Now, when I put a double or triple stuffed nighttime diaper on my son, he did walk kinda funny, but in regular dipes, no problem.

I agree - no problem.

At nighttime our dipes are pretty bulky, but no trouble then.

For younger babies, sometimes the one-size diapers look pretty bulky, but by the time baby is moving around more, they are usually on a bigger size setting and they aren't so bulky.

I disagree. I stopped using cloth cloth when ds started to drwal. I switched to pocket dipes with microfiber liners. Boy did he move. All of my frineds who used cloth dipes kids were sooo stiff when the walked they could not scoot, fast or run. One of them switched from bumpy covers to g diaper covers and that made a huge difference. I fould th emore bulk the less movement hence the begining crawling and walking was done diaper free with baby legs.

Haven't made a difference here! I was a little worried about it and she crawls the same in a bulky prefold as in a pocket and as in a sposie. No issues!

I agree with hipmummy. When DS started scooting and getting ready to crawl I was using prefolds and he seemed like he couldn't move as freely as he'd like to. I tried some Fuzzi Bunz and I think he could move easier in them. It only seemed to affect him for a short time though and we still use prefolds all the time.
