Novice Question

Okay, I realize I should probably get my butt to the library and check out Taking Charge of Your Fertility, cause I have a kinda dumb question.

When is the best time to BD? Right before ovulation, or during?

I borrowed a friend's MaybeMom saliva tester and it's giving me some moderate ferning today. The website says that's a "might be ovulating." I'm on CD 7. Should we be BDing tonight? Or wait until I have a full-on ferning result? If we BD tonight, does that reduce DH's sperm for when I'm actually ovulating?

Thanks for the advice!!!

I don't know much about ferning patterns. Basically you are most fertile in the 1-3 days before ovulation and for 12-24 hours after. (The sperm can live in your system for a few days.) It really depends on your husband's sperm count how fast he can "recharge" but for most people 1x per day is fine. If you are checking cervical mucus, I'd start BDing once you see your most fertile fluid.

well, for most people several times a day wont hurt... but if theres any question on sperm count I wouldn't recommend it (a perfectly healthy sperm count wont drop drastically by having sex more than once in 24 hours)
