Or even some help finding some inspiration. I bought yarn to make a hat for the new baby, and DD has requested a "summer hat" made out of the same yarn. It's terribly cute that she asked, but honestly, I can't think of what to make for her!!
For some reason all I can think of is sort of a wide brimmed, floppy, very thin, almost lacey hat for her. With maybe a scalloped brim to make it more interesting??? (Though I've never actually DONE a scalloped edge
) Normally I can do ok with coming up with a basic pattern from piecing together stuff I've done before, but I'm not sure how to make the brim of the hat.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to make, how to start, or where there might be an existing (free) pattern for something like this?? I'm not married to the brimmed hat idea at all either, so I'd love to hear (or see) ideas for knitted (not crocheted) toddler hats!!!

I was going to post that same pattern! I am knitting my first one, in purple, for my 3 yo DD.
