Ok I have a MIL poem I wanted to give to her on mother's day. Tell me if it sounds ok.... Any suggestions and please tell me what you get from it.

I am Thankful for many things this Mothers Day
Thankful He sent a tiny blessing your way.
Thankful you raised him to be a strong young boy,
Thankful for life whether it be grief or joy.
Thankful for the boy who became a man,
Thankful He was there to show us His plan.
Thankful His guidance to that man was shown,
Thankful he’s now a father full of LOVE for his own.
Thankful for your hard work, you raised a great guy....
Now it gets easy, just enjoy and watch him fly!

(She is of Christian religion)

I am assuming your MIL is christian? If someone sent that to me (I am not christian) I would be kind of offended.

Right. Deffinitely makes it known she's of that religion.

I thought it was very sweet and showed a lot of respect

Thanks! I'm trying to show respect but also asking her to loosen up a little

It's very sweet.

This is probably just a typo and not misspelled in the actual poem, but it's 'whether', not 'wether'.

Thank you

It's nice, as long as she's Christian. Though I have to say, capitalizing the whole word for the deity-based pronouns (HE and HIM instead of He and Him) made it seem like those words are meant to be shouted, giving the poem an odd cadence for me. YMMV, of course.

Good point. I was mainly capitalizing the whole word so it didn't confuse with the other he or him being my husband. But I don't want it to look like I'm shouting either

I think it will be clear that He is God and he is your husband. It's a very nice poem, and a nice idea -- I'm sure your MIL will love it.

Well thanks everyone for your supportive words. I think I'll go ahead and give it to her now that I've adjusted a few things and fixed some spelling errors

:HAVE A WONDERFUL MOTHERS DAY!:

you inspired me to write one!

Thirty-seven years ago
A new mother watched her baby grow
She loved him well, she taught him right
She rocked him nearly every night
Year by year that baby grew
Oh, what that boy put her through!

She fed his body, his heart, his brillant mind
She was exceptional and kind.
She taught him how to do his best,
To care for others, to ace a test.
That mother’s love helped form the man
That one day would take my hand.

I am thankful every day
For the years you gave, the part you played
He watches now from a father’s place
The smile on his own child’s face.
His parenting a reflection of
Your mothering and your tender love.

Love you, Mae Mae! Have a beautiful day!
