I'm Having A Boy...

Hi everyone...

I found out yesterday I'm having a boy. I've been checking out this board and there is SO much info on it. What I can't understand is if you do nothing special when you chose to not circ why would anyone circ? I mean besides religion. I've never seen an intact penis. My husband is circ'ed I think, Would I even know the difference? He's the only man I've ever been with. lol

I called my husband at work and asked him if he wanted to circ the baby and he said "Why? I heard there's no reason to anymore. Google it and we'll discuss it when we have more info." After reading all of these posts I guess the decision is pretty simple. :-)

Now I need to get back to the cloth diapering board and figure that out.

I just wanted to say hi mommas! I'll probably be around some.

Awwwwwwwwwwww! Congratulations Mama-to-be You are due on my yonger guys b-day(who is also intact btw) I also found the decision to be easy once I thought about it logically and did some reading. Both of my kiddos are intact(although their Dad is not) and they are perfectly happy healthy guys. Enjoy your pregnancy, and good for you for being able to see this issue logically

Take care!

You are very lucky to have a dh like that so many times we get mom's who's dh is adament about circ and it causes so much tension. Give him a big hug and kiss and tell him how special he is

The only thing to remember is make sure when a dr sees him that they dont mess with his penis at all. Even thought circ rates are dropping there are many dr/healthcare workes out there that are still not up to date on intact care.

They are only taught in medical school how to cut it off not how to deal with it when it is intact.

Retraction (pushing back of the foreskin to the body) can and does cause problems such as infection and the all to irritating phimosis diagnosis (where the foreskin will not retract) it is fused to the head of the penis and any retraction can tear that connection.

Just so you know you can refuse to allow them to even do under the diaper checks at all if you wish. They do need to check for both testicals being down and for hernia's but to do that they need not touch the penis at all.

Check out the resources sticky and read the links The Definition of Retraction & Why it is BAD, A warning to parents of intact sons & Possible seperation issues.

If you know what to expect when it happens you wont freak out as badly at least that is how it is for mel.

Congratulations on your new little guy :
