What kind of bread to you eat?

Dd eats a lot of cashew butter sandwiches and likes toast with her oatmeal. I want to get a better/healthy/higher fiber bread.

What bread do you like? Why? Where do you buy it?

If you're going store bought, I would go with Ezekial bread. It's made from sprouted grains so it's more digestible and healthier and it doesn't have any sweeteners or other nasty stuff in it. I usually bake my own bread, but if I don't have a chance I pick it up at Whole Foods. I think you can find it at most health food stores though.

If you want to venture into making your own, here's the recipe I use (but I never use the dough enhancer).

Sprouted would be my first choice (with organic grains). It's much easier on the digestive tract.

we make whole wheat sourdough bread, often with flax or some other nice things baked in!

if i had to buy bread from the store, i would buy ezekiel bread mostly, but also nice ww loaves from our local bakery.

We eat Ezekiel too -- I get it at Trader Joe's.

When I'm in the states, Ezekiel (toasted, it's better that way imo).

12 or 15 grain bread, with lots of nuts and seeds, I also love millet and ezekial breads.

We get Little Rooster Multi-grain. It's local here. http://www.littlerooster.net/

Thanks. I picked up Ezekial last time we were at the store. I'd heard great things about it but wondered if there were any other favorite brands.

I wish making bread was an option but we don't have a bread maker and I live in an apartment with crappy air conditioning and an oven with a whole in the top that heat the whole place when I turn it on. I'd die of heat stroke!

Dough enhancer is just expensive citric acid. Acid helps the yeast work -- DH is the bread baker in our family and he often adds lemon juice to the bread, or buttermilk/sour milk instead of regular milk in a milk based bread.

Before I started making my own bread I was buying Rudi's Honey Sweet Whole Wheat through my co-op and/or health food store (when I ran out before the next co-op)... I was never a fan of the ezekial bread, though my mom & dad love it...

I get something like the Ezekiel but at costco. The last ones I got were sprouted 20 grains and seeds and it was so good!! I bake bread but I keep this on hand for backup when I need to take a break from so much cooking/baking. It makes the best french toast because it doesn't get so soggy!

Right now we only buy sandwich bread from stores. Usually it's the white whole wheat bread from Costco. It's very nice for sandwiches, decently priced and is whole wheat. Oh and they freeze very well (that's important because you need to buy 3 large bags at a time).

I make most other bread we eat. I'd love to buy some of those fancier breads but we have too many food allergies / intolerance to risk those. Sometimes I buy a big pack of those Indian Naan bread, maybe a occasional bag of tortillas.
