I'm really bothered by this recent article on the BBC's Women's Hour. It seems as though it wants to provoke an argument rather than provide information. The woman who wrote What to expect when you are breastfeeding is on there.

i have words for the 'what to expect' people. i was given 'the 1st year' as a gift and there was more then once i laughed out loud ("largely useless flap of skin" -(circ)) or scrunched up my face. (bfing will supress your sex drive, not for normal reasons like hormone changes, caring for a baby, etc, but because your "sexual needs are being met by bfing" :

I cringe at the What to Expect books too.

Both the author and the interviewer in the Women's Hour piece sound very angry. The interviewer is trying to push the statement that women are under too much pressure to breastfeed, and the what to expect woman is going on about all the problems she sees women having. I feel sorry for the male doctor who is actually very pro breastfeeding and downplaying the sensational focus of the interview, which is acting as if the very small risk of Hypernatraemic Dehydration is a reason to not breastfeed!

And.... I just want to add that the Woman's Hour article isn't going to help anyone out there get the right advice to get things off to a good start either!

Grrr Woman's Hour! So irresponsible!
