Washing pocket diapers (novice question)

I could have sworn that I read that after changing a pocket diaper, you need to put the stuffing in one pail/ bag and the cover in another until you wash them. Is that true?

I've been using pockets on my 2 year old and keeping the 2 parts of the pocket diapers separate until washing and quite honestly, it is kind of a pain in the rear. I don't want to make things harder than they should be so if I can combine the covers and the stuffing after the diaper is dirty, that would be awesome. If not, no big deal, I'll figure something out.

Thanks!

I've never separated mine. My diaper pail is a mix of prefolds, covers, pockets, inserts, wipes, and the occasional changing pad cover or pooped-on towel...

i've never separated mine either, i use mostly fuzzi bunz. i think those guidelines are just if you use a wet pail.

Nope, we don't separate anything. We dry pail.

We dry pail (always have) and I pull the inserts out, then toss everything together. You don't want to soak PUL in a wetpail.

As long as you're using a dry bag/pail, there's no need to keep them separate. Just pull the inserts out and toss into the bag with the pocket.

I do keep my FBs separate from other dipes of natural fibers, to prevent pilling. But that is primarily aesthetic!

I don't separate. I can't imagine going to all that trouble. If cloth diapering was that complicated, I would have quit a long time ago.

Us, too. All goes together in the pail and in the machine!

Well, now I feel like a big dork, lol! Yay for doing things the hard way!!

From now on I will be putting them all in one pail (I do a dry pail) and calling it good.

Thanks for all the replies!!
