DD got 3 different chicken-pox shots

I just discovered that my 8 yr old has had 3 doses of the chicken-pox vaccine, two of the shots were before the age of two and without my knowledge or conscent. On her state record (from the health department- a list of the vaccines she had recieved) it had a side note that one of the shots was given at "too young of an age"

I remember saying that I did NOT want her to recieve it because it hadn't been around long and I didn't view chicken pox as a threat- but it looks like they gave it to her anyway :

The shot that I was aware of was when she was three.. we stopped the 'scheduled' ones when she turned two, but we were told that she had to have one in order to enroll in YMCA, which we needed when we had no money and we were both going to school. I wish I would have been more informed (before her birth, not just at three..)

So- what would you do in this situation (if anything)? We are going to request her medical records from the old ped on Monday.. anything else to think about? I'm really sad/angry about this- mostly with myself because I put so much poison into her body.

Thanks in advance..

WOW

I'm sorry I don't have any advice but I would be one angry momma. Do you have a written non-consent form leftover from refusing the vax?

Maybe their records are wrong?

How could she get a shot without your consent or knowledge? Did someone else ever take her to the doctor? It's pretty hard to give a vaccine without your knowledge unless they snuck it in with a bunch of other shots.

I agree. At my pediatrician, they give you a handout for each shot, and as the nurse does them she tells you which one she is doing. Perhaps the records are wrong?

This happened with my ds years ago. I refused the varicella vaccine, but it was administered with the other vaccines he received that day. Whether it was intentional or accidental I can only speculate. I didn't know enough to question anything at the time. And I was given no handouts by this particular doctor.

That's the only way it could've happened. I'm really hoping the records were wrong though

well in that case you could get titers to see if she has indeed had the vax.

I'm not really sure what else you could do to prove she had it.

If she did get it without your consent, I doubt there is much you can do. Did the doctor have you sign anything at all stating which vaccines you were getting?

Different states seem to have different rules. In the state where DS was born, we received information sheets and signed off on each and every one of his vaccinations. In the state we've now moved to, we neither receive info : nor sign off on the vax.

And the nurse just brings a needle in. I'm halfway tempted to ask to read it to check that it is what we requested, but I haven't.
