I don't have a tv - I only watch what I can watch online (which is actually a suprising amount lately)...I'm REALLY bummed I'm missing this - I saw the preview clip here:

Did anyone catch it? Were they just lambasted the whole time or were they able to make their point?

gahhhh .... the OB on that show .... GAHHHHH ... agghhhh
wow. bleh. she is totally against homebirth and cautions that women and babies can die at home. oh and she says that OB's put their life out their for women and babies.
and dr. sears didn't even comment on the topic ... argggg
although i do have to say they let ricki get her point across.

I watched which I usually don't watch The Doctors it's just um not my cup of tea. I love Ricki Lake, she is so well spoken!

Well, I DVR'd it and just watched it. That Dr. Lisa tried to assert her opinion by bringing up dead babies and risks. Ricki (and Abby) were very well spoken and explained their positions well. The male doctors also really did a good job of moderating and being clear about a woman having a choice.

What was also funny was, that when they had a guest on asking Dr. Lisa how to have a better outcome having her second baby, i.e., what techniques to use for natural labor, etc., she really didn't have an answer besides talk to the anesthesiologist in case she changes her mind about another epi (she had a bad experience with her first).

However, Ricki and Abby gave her really good advice, such as hiring a doula, laboring at home, using water, not laying in bed, walking around or bouncing, etc. She seemed really responsive to it as well.

Also, they gave their audiences copies of Ricki's and Abby's new book!

I at least liked that Dr. Stork was very supportive of homebirth. He even mentioned he has a cousin who had two beautiful, successful hbs. Dr. Lisa was just plain annoying.

I watched it. While I think Ricki & Abby are great, the are not giving actual numbers & facts. (I guess it could have been editied out.) I think a MW would have been a great addition to the panel. One thing that I wish they had said, Pregnacy & Birth is a NORMAL state of being for MOST women!

Eh, I'm glad I missed it. I would have been annoyed with that OB.
