Actually, I do remember Ricki saying that birth is natural and a normal process for most women. It probably got lost in Dr. Lisa's rhetoric.

ETA: I also sometimes think that OBs are intimidated by knowledgeable midwives.

yeah to that!

overall, for their typical viewers, i thought it was a very positive introduction to homebirths, women having more options, and enpowering women. even if ricki and abby didn't get into a lot of details or stats, i felt they got their point across in a very positive way and completely won the argument over dr. lisa. i was pleasantly surprised!

i think dr. sears kept fairly quiet b/c he had too. that is, he couldn't step on dr. lisa's toes. it was pretty clear to me though through his body language that he completely agreed with ricki. but...i still think he should have said something. it's important for the public to hear some truth from doctors like him.

I just watched these clips. I didn't hate it. I thought I'd be spitting venom after watching but I thought it was very moderate.

I have only watched the Doctors before (the circ episode ugh) and hated it then but I must say the Bachelor doctor was a pleasant surprise. Even he pointed out that Dr. Lisa might be coming from a place of trying to protect her practice (not in those words). Hopefully, her bias was abundantly obvious to the viewers.

I thought Ricki and Abby presented themselves calmly. Ricki even said that she is not pushing home birth or hospital birth, she is only wanting women to be informed of their choice. How can you argue with that?
