Rec bones for dogs

I deboned a leg of lamb and there were 2 bones in it. I would like to let my dogs have them but I am a little unsure because I don't want them to chip their teeth. I feed my dogs raw but have always given them bully sticks or rawhide for their rec bones. I want to start giving them real rec bones. Are these lamb leg bones a good idea? And can I get some ideas as to other bones that are good for rec bones.

In the raw-feeding world "rec" bones are often called "wreck" bones because of their potential to damage teeth. I would stick with edible bones and if you want to amuse your dogs for longer perhaps some more challenging or partly frozen meals would do the trick.

That's what I thought. I've heard that wreck thing before. I guess I just wanted to make sure that my boys aren't missing out on something really good. But perhaps I should just stick to what we have been doing. They get frozen food when I've not taken their food out in time for it to thaw fully. Thanks.

I've heard of many people using lamb leg bones as rec bones. Personally I don't know if I would. I usually give pork necks or something similiar that require more chewing then a chicken bone but not as hard as a leg bone.

I guess it depends on the size of your dog - ours is smaller and I consider things like neckbones to be rec bones. I don't leave them out for long periods of time, but if he ate the meat off it for dinner and chewed on it a bit, then I'll leave it in his crate for him to chew overnight. That sort of thing.

I've heard lots of stories about damaged teeth on big bones, so I'm kinda scared to go there myself.
