My 2 month old is intact obviously and his penis is red on the outside not all over and more than just the tip. I would say about halfway up. We do not have foreskin educated docs here at all, its a military hospital and not circing is rare here. My AP friendly ped just left so I am screwed. I dont know what to do about it. So what could it be and what shoULD i DO? I normally use cloth diapers and used disposable over night it didnt help at all. I washed it with a cloth wipe and just soap and water this am. could it be yeast? if so what do we do? Can I use lotramin like I did with my other boys? dipe creams are ok? Sorry I just dont have time to go back and read all of my links and you guys are the greatest source of info I have.

Hello there, do you have a daughter? You may see at times baby girls get a bit irritated because of the urine in their dipes. I have 2 daughters and a son, this happens to all three of them, even though my daughters do not use anymore dipes they still get irritated because they don't clean well enough, sometimes non lol! I let them have (including the boy) a dip in warm water and baking soda (enough to make the water soapy-like) for a little while, then when dry I apply unrefined coconut oil in their parts. Both girls AND boys.

oh yes :-) I have two daughters and two other sons as well... then the baby boy too. I dont think its getting any better yet but I'll check again after his next diaper change.

I see you do cloth, try disposies until is clear. I use cloth and do the same when necessary. Also diaper free with a while helps a ton too. The idea is to keep the area dry for a while. I barely never have to go diaper free, just use the disposie and voila. Don't stress over it tho, it will get better. I do swear by unrefined coconut oil, that stuff CURES and generates the skin.

ok I just changed him now and its def not looking any better at all after numerous changes so something's up. Its red over halfway up the whole front of his penis. I'm thinking its yeast we live in the deep south so its really warm and humid here add that plus a warm even semi wet diapers...not a good combo. cream isnt even doing anything for it...

did u try the baking soda? how about epson salts? I do that too from time to time. Stop using cloth and go diaper free.

If you think it is yeast you can put lotramin or even monistate on there. Have you stripped your CD's they can harbor the yeasties even after washing from what I have been told.

The monistate if you use that should be the 7 day kind.

It could be red because the lips (tip of foreskin) are puckering. That happens. It may appear redder than normal if its been irritated from a soiled diaper. Anatomical Dermatitis, in other words, a diaper rash.

The foreskin is just doing its job. It has an amazing ability to fight most pathogens because of its immunological attributes. If it wasn't there, the meatus and glans would be irritated instead. That makes the meatus vulernable to meatal stenosis - a condition in which the urinary opening on the glans fuses together making it difficult and sometimes painful for urine to expel.

All inner mucosa, like the insides of your mouth for example, is a pinkish color.

As long as he is peeing, and doesn't have a fever he should fine.

hth Congratulations on your new baby!

If you suspect yeast:
I wanted to add that you should strip your cloth diapers with vinegar and hang them in sunlight to kill the yeast. The dryer will NOT kill yeast. You need to use sposies until he is treated and diapers are stripped.
I've used diflucan for my son's yeast (internal and on his butt) It worked well. I also recommend using a probiotic supplement.

It could possibly just be some separation symptoms. Check out the thread about Intact Care. Yeast often has a peely look or sometimes there are white bumps.

It's most likely diaper rash. The same diaper cream you put on his butt is fine for his penis. Bath in plain water, no soap. Let it air out whenever possible (maybe give EC a try.)

If it doesn't clear up pretty soon, then I would start treating for yeast.
