Second-guessing name choices

The last few weeks we've still been going back and forth on names. DH has pretty much left it up to me to pick from the pool of names we have. I'm pretty sure I know what our boy name is going to be, and its not the one we originally settled on. I'm probably going to go in a completely different direction with our girl name, should this baby end up being a girl though I highly doubt it will be. The current girl name that I do like begins with L, as does my DS's name. Do you think this is a naming faux pas? Also, for boy middle names I'm stumped. My DS is Liam James, James being DH's middle name and FIL first name. If this babe is a boy we've thrown around using DH's first name (Andrew) as a middle name, would you also consider this a naming faux pas? If we don't end up doing that we'll most likely use DH's brother's middle name (Patrick). I'm pretty much waiting to see this baby before naming it but I need some opinions before I narrow down names or look for something completely different.

I don't think your name options are problematic at all. My brother and I both have names beginning with L, although his nickname is used much more than his real name by his family, and it does not begin with an L. It hasn't impacted our lives negatively as far as I can tell! We're considering using my DH's name (or a variation) as a middle name for a boy, too; I don't think that's tacky at all. I personally do not like the "Jr." practice, so I'd never name a boy/girl with one of our first names, but I think they're fair game as middle names.

I agree, neither one of those seem like a faux pas to me. I actually like the idea of using your DH or DH's brother's name as the middle name.

Okay, good to hear on the L names. I think the only issue will be me mixing up names, but I do that anyway with DH and DS. So you don't think that using DH's middle name for DS's middle name and then used DH's first name for the second child m/n is a big deal? I'm not big on the jr. practice either but I like using family names for middle names, it makes naming easier

I think thats pretty neat to use both Dh's names as their middle names

We did the same thing as you!! Lochlan's middle name is James (after DH's late father) and Griffin's middle name is Nicholas (after my DH, although he goes by Nick it is his own middle name and his grandfathers first name)

We did this because we have some family heirlooms that will get passed to each boy based on who their middle name is after.

I know a few families where ALL the kids name start with the same letter(duggar family they ahve on TLC? with 18-19 kids, all start with J) One family I know are all D's son1 is david and daughter1 is davine, both gender version of the same name..... they all turned out fine

as for confusing the names.....girl, you are a mom, thats just part of the deal! I once called my sister MY name! cant get worse than that i dont think?!

I"m trying to come up with a new option for a boy name, the name we ahve we picked with last baby, i liked it then and its been steadily losing its appeal to my thru this pregnancy to the point that i really dont want it now. DH however is SET on it problem is i cant come up with anything i like better... which means it is probably a boy! lol i'm hoping the perfect name will be on a tag on the babies ankle when it is born

goodluck with picking the name! its such a hard "easy" task huh?!
