I tell my 5 year old that it is important to keep these areas clean so she doesn't get an infection. If she gets dirt or sand in there it will be very uncomfortable, itchy, and irritated.

Yes I do and its a hard subject for me. I require shorts under dresses and her to sit in an appropiate way even then. I do want to teach modesty and have awarness of her body ect but I also know a LOT of my fear comes from my own childhood sexual abuse at the hands of soem extended family members. I have to always remember she is both soo vernuble and so inocent at this age and its hard for me to find the balance.
